Help Picking Keepers

Post#1 » by traviszj » Fri Aug 21, 2015 6:02 pm

I need help picking a rookie keeper for my league. I'm having the hardest time deciding between Zach LaVine and Gorgui Dieng. Also I could keep Tony Wroten.

League is categories with pts, assists, Rebs, steals, blocks, fg%, 3pm. What do you all think?

Dieng, easily.

Wroten will flat out murder your %s. Canaan might end up starting for PHI as well cos they'll need spacing for Okafor and Noel.

Lavine has upside and finished last year on a tear, but unless they deal Rubio and/or KMart, he's blocked for significant minutes

Dieng is definitely the best option. LaVine is probably 2 seasons away from showing us what he is.

Dieng for me as well. As frytening said, LaVine is still a couple years out, especially if Martin is still around this year all season.

dieng is a great keeper.

lavine is not that bad for this format but still inferior to dieng. during the last month of the season lavine was the 73rd best player for your league's categories, while dieng was 25th (he was 58th on the whole year).

wroten wouldn't be bad, he ranked 71st on the season in your 7-cat league.

i'm not sure of what your league's keeper rules are but my personal philosophy is to pick whoever the best value would be, and you need to know the player's ADPs in order to find the value.

example from a hypothetical situation: if dieng's ADP is in the fifth round and you can keep him for a sixth rounder compared to wroten's ADP being in the eighth round and you can keep him for a twelfth rounder than i would likely recommend keeping wroten.
