Dirk for Brooks/Josh Smith

Post#1 » by DNYLkiller » Mon Jan 11, 2010 9:34 pm

I'm running a sudo-small ball team right now and was wondering if this is good value for Dirk. Here is my team:
14 team 9 cat H2H

PG
Mike Bibby
(Atl - PG)
SG
J.R. Smith
(Den - SG,SF)
G
Jason Kidd
(Dal - PG)
SF
Boris Diaw
(Cha - SF,PF)
PF
Dirk Nowitzki
(Dal - PF)
F
Rasheed Wallace
(Bos - PF,C)
C
Mehmet Okur
(Uta - PF,C)
C
Kendrick Perkins
(Bos - C)
Util
Samuel Dalembert
(Phi - C)
Util
Baron Davis
(LAC - PG)
BN
Shane Battier
(Hou - SF)
BN
Thabo Sefolosha
(OKC - SG,SF)
BN
Chris Andersen
(Den - PF,C)

I usually aim for Assts, 3's, stls, FT% and Points and depending on the match up/schedule I try and go for blocks with Kendrick/Sam/Birdman.

Take the trade?

I'm assuming you'd be dropping Thabo ... but you are giving up the best player in the trade. Value wise, I'm not hating on this trade but considering Yahoo's ranks, you give up the #3 player for a #33 and #52, and that's just a bit hard to swallow ... but if you are really firm on the small ball approach with the blocks strat, I could see this trade working out for you.

It could work. Your team doesn't look overly efficient from first glance (Dirk's hallmark) and it's got a nice blend of gunners and blockers. Try it perhaps. I'd also look into dumping Diaw if he doesn't pick up the pieces.

Basically means you tank FT%.

Personally If I was to trade Nowitzki, I'd be wanting a lot more back in return. While last month has been slow for him, he is a legit top 10 player.

So for me, it's a pass.

The answer is no, you do not want ot make that trade. You can get more for Dirk than this, and it's always a bad idea to trade a top 10 player based on a slaump.
