player option + buy-out

Post#1 » by coolness » Wed Apr 23, 2014 3:23 pm

Pistons fan here...

Jonas Jerebko has a $4.5m player option for next season. Clearly not worth that much.

But, but, but he has publicly said that he might opt-out. Not insane of him all things considered.

Couldn't he opt-in and then ask for $2m (or whatever) in a buy-out? Pistons would have to consider.

Seems shady if he can get a buy-out and THEN a multi-year deal from a different team.

Would anything prevent him doing that?

I can't see anything CBA-illegal in what you've imagined. The first move is his: exercise his option for another year, or not. Then, who knows?
