Video ads crash firefox

Post#1 » by Heat3 » Sat Mar 22, 2014 7:05 pm

The annoying video ads that play are constantly crashing my firefox browser. It is happening on multiple PCs. Some with Win 7 some with Win 8. It is something to do with Flash or Shockwave and it only happens on realgm. I either have to constantly kill the browser process or as I've done on one pc just installed a flash blocker. No ads, no problem!

Ad Block is useless. A waste of a download. I downloaded Ad Block on Google Chrome for Windows 8 & it didn't do anything. As a matter of fact it made things worst for my laptop. I downloaded Ad Block for the main purposes of trying to block video ads on RealGM, Instagram & YouTube but it did nothing at all

My laptop crashed 6 times over the last week so I had to put it in the shop :(

Actually I have not experienced it recently. My personal systems now have a flash blocker so that may be one reason but my work laptop does not and I haven't had the issue there either. So far so good!

Spoke too soon. I'm experiencing it on my work laptop again. It hasn't forced me to kill the firefox process but it very often goes into "Not Responding" state for a while then comes back. I assume that firefox is killing the flash plugin process. Very annoying...

This is fairly routine depending on your computer memory. It is frustrating but the amount of flash in our ads is minimal and is only on a few page loads.

there are 3 or 4 flash ads on each forum page and I have 16GB ram on both systems I've experienced this on. like i said before, I found a solution by blocking this content from being loaded on my end. i just posted to let you guys know what side effects some ads are causing. its up to you to decide if it is worth fixing or not. obviously it isn't.

I have this same problem on the (3) PC's that I use from work to home. Basically, it only happens on Firefox and involves Flash. But, Firefox is the only Browser which is most secure.

The main solution is to disable Flash. Unfortunately, this mainly happens with RealGM as I don't experience this with ESPN while it happened only a few times with the local news website.
