Cuban: Blair's Performance Against Spurs Will Be 'A Beautiful Thing'

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Wed Aug 21, 2013 6:16 pm

DeJuan Blair has circled the Dallas Mavericks' matchup against his old team, the San Antonio Spurs, next season, and Mark Cuban senses determination in his new forward.

“DeJuan already knows when we’re playing the Spurs,” Cuban said. “We already know what DeJuan is going to do to the Spurs. It’s going to be a beautiful thing.”

Blair was adamant recently that he believes the Spurs would have won the NBA championship last season had he played in the Finals against the Miami Heat.

The Mavericks expected Blair to provide a strong inside presence.

“DeJuan was a really important acquisition for us because Elton Brand didn’t return,” Rick Carlisle said. “We need that physical (butt)-kicker to put out there and be an enforcer for us.”

dejuan blair has no height, short arms, and no athleticism (for an nba player). he doesnt have an offensive game, isnt much of a defender, and is injury prone. i see why mark is so excited.

thats blairs numbers from last season. you seem to have forgotten to include them w/ years 1-3. dunno how many spurs games youve watched but dejaun blair is not very good. the guy is 6-7 and has zero athleticism (no acls remember?). he has no offensive game. any points he scores is either a put back or off an assist from a teammate. due to his lack of size and mobility, hes not a very good defender. his best asset is his rebounding. he is a solid rebounder but nothing spectacular. the guy is a watered down version of kendrick perkins. his scoring was inflated his first few years b/c he played on the highest scoring team in the league. he was exposed this last season and couldnt even break the rotation anymore. i guess he could be a solid guy to have on your bench as a 12th man who sees few minutes. but if you expect dejaun blair to be a key contributor, you will be disappointed.

kinda late and after the fact to come out with that statement, but hey, maybe any kind of bullying in the middle against the heat might have worked since miami had nothing inside, but moot now.

Splitter, Diaw, Duncan, Pendergraph, Bonner, Baynes........

There wasn't enough room for him on the Spur's roster anymore, plain and simple. The guy should be happy as a clam that he went to a team with a much shallow roster so he could play more minutes.

If Blair or the Mavericks want to make it some kind of personal vendetta to motivate themselves, that's their problem. I don't think SA is very afraid of either of them at the moment.
