Carmelo Unbothered By Jackson's Comments About Taking Less Money

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Fri May 2, 2014 4:52 pm

Carmelo Anthony isn't distressed by comments from Phil Jackson suggesting he should consider taking less money to re-sign with the New York Knicks to create more cap flexibility.

"[Anthony] didn't see [Phil's comments] as all that different from what he'd said himself a couple months ago," said a source.

"Money isn't the key factor at play here. Winning is."

Melo is a great player...but not the cornerstone of a winning franchise. He should look for a place where he could play the "Paul Pierce" role...not the "Lebron" role. This place isn't New York.

This is why he will never win a championship. He's not going to sacrifice for the team. He needs the most money and needs the most shots for him to look good. Good luck in finding guys that wants to play with Carmelo Anthony. LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, Chris Paul, Anthony Davis, James Harden, and even the young Damian Lillard are guys that players want to play with over Carmelo Anthony.

That's why he will join Lebron next year.

This applies to Kobe at this point too.

the overmarketing of young prospects is quite frankly making basketball a more selfish sport.
Offense gets u those shoe contracts. Defense doesn't.

How many stars are there in this league that think defense is somehow below them. It isnt just not playing within the team dynamics, but not putting in effort on the defensive end is so frustrating.

Melo is a cancer. He is playing for a team that specializes in accepting cancerous refugees from the rest of the league.

Linsanity took off when he was injured, and the team was playing great defence. When asked in an interview if his return would mean the team would play more selfish, his response was that he didnt understand why ppl said that.... This guy is never going to win a championship...EVER!!!

As cocky as he is, gotta admire what Lebron does within the constructs of a team to make it better.

Did you read some invisible section of this article that I may have missed? What exactly are you referring to with.. well.. your entire post?

Or are you just giving your opinion at random?

I'm stating my opinion just like every other people here that already said Carmelo will never win a championship because he's too selfish.

Melo is gonna take a pay cut so the knicks could get help. That's the plan. Thats what he and Phil spoke about. Phil though has to keep his end of the bargain showing Melo he is capable of getting the help Melo thinks is needed to win in NY. Once Phil does that, Melo will take the cut. However if Phil fails, Melo will leave NY for Chicago. Why not just go to Chicago if he doesn't mind taking less money and the help is already there? Well, the answer to that is simple. Carmelo Anthony LOVES NY.
