Lionel Hollins To Interview For Lakers' Coach Opening

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Sun May 25, 2014 5:29 pm

Lionel Hollins has emerged as a head coaching candidate for the Los Angeles Lakers and the team plans to interview him later this week, according to sources.

The Lakers have also interviewed Mike Dunleavy Sr. and Byron Scott.

Hollins reached the postseason in each of his final three seasons as coach of the Memphis Grizzlies before being let go due to acrimony between he and the front office.

Like Lakers' management, Kobe Bryant is hopeful that the franchise finds a coach with a proven track record.

Glad Lakers are taking their time, Hollins is a defensive minded guy and his players have always played hard for him.But you get the feeling that the Lakers are going to hire somebody that will finally complete the length of his contract.

Hollins has my vote for being the Lakers coach.

He is what the Lakers need a defense first coach not big on developing young players though.

First good interview. I wouldn't be mad if Hollins was the next coach.

Also wouldn't mind Messina, Karl, or Thibodeau. George Karl is my favorite pick though.

Hollins coaching the Lakers would be interesting. He doesn't treat star players any differently from role players, and he does not tolerate lack of effort on the defensive end. You either play his way or you don't play at all - and sometimes players have to learn that lesson the hard way. I think Hollins and Kobe and/or the Lakers' front office would be clashing well before Thanksgiving of his first year.

I like Hollins as head coach. I don't want him for the Lakers position because he'll most likely succeed and that doesn't bode well for my Trailblazers team. However, I think that he'd be a great fit as the Jazz next head coach.

Umm... Portland will still be a playoff team next season. How would the Lakers hiring Hollins impact Portland? Sounds like you are just fishing for a reason to hate lol. No surprise however.

This seems to be the one everyone wants. Hollins runs the defense, and Kobe runs the offense....
