Celtics To Likely Receive Mavs' 2016 Pick

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Fri Dec 19, 2014 2:36 am

The Dallas Mavericks' pick in the Rajon Rondo trade is likely to be conveyed to the Boston Celtics in 2016.

The Mavericks' pick goes to the Celtics this season if it falls between No. 4 and No. 14. If the pick falls between eight and 30 in 2016, it will go to the Celtics.

basically they gave up one pick? dont see mavs losing their 2015 1st rounder since they will finish top 3-4 great trade on mavs part without giving up much

they are giving up 2 picks, the first round most likely is the 2016 pick as it is top 8 protected and the Mavs won't be that bad, and they also gave up a 2nd rounder. The Mavs did give up 3 players that were playing regularly, Rondo fills Nelson's slot, but they lose a couple guys that were getting minutes. The key here for Dallas is can they sign Rondo, does Rondo not get injured (has a bit of history getting hurt), and finally and maybe more importantly, does he fit in as he has been a pain in the neck in Boston. Overall, Dallas really didn't give up much, so no that massive of a gamble. I think they biggest gamble goes to the team that gives Rondo a max deal. This is the reason the Celtic dealt him in my opinion, they don't feel he is worthy of a max deal, and I think rightfully so.
