Average NBA Franchise Valuation Now More Than $1 Billion

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Wed Jan 21, 2015 4:15 pm

The average NBA franchise valuation is now a record $1.1 billion.

There are now 11 NBA teams worth at least $1 billion, compared to three a year ago. The Los Angeles Lakers lead the way at $2.6 billion, up 93% over last year.

LOL Mikhail Prokhorov is going to make a HUGE profit on his sale. Unbelievable how much the Knicks are evaluated at. Ofcourse the Knicks are the worst team in the NBA, but have the highest price in the NBA. Lakers are second, and are also in the bottom 5 of the NBA now. Must suck having to pay that much to see such a bad team, especially when you have a plethora of entertainment options in those cities.

Well if they add demand into the price, and considering there is only 30 of them. Every single one of those prices could go up 1.5x or 2.0x when being auctioned off to highest bidder. Cause everyone know Auction prices are much higher than actual value.

And definitely this. I imagine in a few years they will build their own stadium somewhere in the 'burbs, and then somehow they will re-negotiate their current media deals. Suddenly they will be up there with the other top 5 media market teams, which would be about double the current estimation.
