Nets, Thunder Close To Brook Lopez For Reggie Jackson Trade

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Thu Feb 19, 2015 5:40 pm

The Brooklyn Nets are close to trading Brook Lopez to the Oklahoma City Thunder in a package for Reggie Jackson.

The Nets, however, need to believe they will be able to convince Jackson to re-sign in the offseason. Jackson will be a restricted free agent. Jackson turned down a four-year, $48 million extension with the Thunder.

The Thunder have had interest in Lopez dating back to the 2008 NBA Draft.

The Thunder would include Kendrick Perkins and Perry Jones as part of the package.

Wheelin' and dealin'!! What a huge upgrade for the Thunder Lopez would be over Perkins (assuming he stays healthy).

Brook Lopez:

Terrible rebounder
Terrible passer
Terrible help defender
Good rim defender
Great scorer

*Has basically been injured for 2 out of the last 4 seasons.

Interesting pick up. Anything is an upgrade over Kendrick Perkins.

If Flip Saunders really turns a first round pick into 2 months of KG via Thad Young, that has got to be one the worst deals ever

You are really simplifying the deal a bit. The Wolves were able to unload a good chunk of salary to create some roster space too. They also didnt calculate that Pekovic, Martin, and Rubio would all miss so much time.

Pretty much, trading the first for Young gave them flexibility and saved them money.
Go Knicks!

So trading a pick for a player with a salary saved the Wolves money and a roster spot? Sorry man I'm not trying to troll, I'm just a bit confused on what you mean there. The Sixers saved money and added flexibility by trading Young, yes. I just feel like if the Wolves would have kept the first rounder from CLE and had that to deal now they would get a much better return. I do understand the nostalgia of getting KG back but yeah, just seems like the Wolves are wasting assets. True on Pek, Rubio and Martin missing time though, they thought they would be a better team
