Jordan Clarkson Could Change Lakers' Free Agency Plans

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Tue Apr 7, 2015 4:39 pm

Jordan Clarkson will make just $845,059 for the 15-16 season, which won't become fully guaranteed with the Los Angeles Lakers until he is on their opening night roster.

“We know he’s going to be on our team next year,” Byron Scott said. “But we have to add pieces. There’s no doubt about that. I don’t think we necessarily are saying we’re building around him. But we’re adding pieces with him.”

The Lakers have believed to be on the market for a point guard this summer with options like Rajon Rondo and Goran Dragic available in free agency, but Clarkson could change that.

Clarkson was Rookie of the Month in the Western Conference in March.

Best thing that can happen to any rookie: lots of playing time.

Clarkson would be better than throwing huge Money at Rondo. Rondo will the biggest bust signing in free agency

Sign Dragic instead, much better fit for Jordan, and draft another big guy and we're good to go.

The kid looks like hes going to have a bright future in the NBA. I predict he is going to have at lease one triple double before the season is over. He could end up sliding to SG though if the Lakers draft a PG. Lakers need to adress center and small forward.

Dragic not leaving Miami. They can offer him the most money too. If we don't draft Okafor or Towns I rather go after Monroe

ya doubt NY goes after him and Pistons would be better off keeping Jackson.

Oh dear, Clarkson or not, I really hope we don't sign Rondo. Don't get me wrong, I respect the hell out of what he's accomplished in the past. But as for his days of being a top point guard? Those days are long gone. Someone is going to be stuck paying him 5/50 based on his reputation, and if it's the Lakers? It could be a damning move.

I've been high on Dragic for years, but with the emergence of Clarkson, I don't think he's needed anymore. Better save that cap room for the front court, and hope we land in the top 2 of this years draft.

Rondo is experiencing the same dimming effect that Dirk and Co had on Steve Nash. Nash was a good PG in Dallas but when he left Dirk he really exploded. Rondo was still avg 10 dimes before the trade from Boston. How? Because there was no Monta (who needs the ball in his hands to succeed) or Dirk (ditto but not as much) to acquiesce to. Any team that seeks a steadying hand and true lead guard/facilitator should consider him. For how much is the question...I'd pay him what Teague is making.

zero chance Chicago doesn't match any & all QO's for Yimmy Butler.

I'm hoping we pursue DeAndre or take Cauley-Stein. WCS can guard any position, and both guys can impact a game without the ball. They're the perfect complements to any of the bigs hitting f/a's: LMA, KD, Klove.

Mudiay looks like he has as much upside as Exum, but Stephon Marbury also dominates the chinese league so I'm thinking we have to take these highlight videos with a HUGE grain of salt.

Clarkson ftw, let's shore up that front-court/interior D.

Wow, I know you didn't claim jimmy butler from my team. That's hilarious. Jimmy don't want to play for no team dominated by Kobe Bryant. By next season jimmy prob is a MVP candidate if he works hard in the off season. He's staying in chi and that's all there is to say. Lakers will do best prying Kevin love away from Cleveland win they lose in the playoffs. But I do see LA returning back to the playoffs next year. Its sucks for y'all that randle got hurt and could be doing the same as clarkson right now.

I would think whether the Lakers have a draft pick, and who they take with that draft pick, would also have a pretty big effect on who they sign. Both Rondo and Dragic don't fit into their current window, which is at best a few years off.

Monroe is not a strong defensive presence. The Lakers need a big man like Towns or WCS.

Stop making Lakers fans look worse, bruh. There is no way we're getting Jimmy Butler... and the Lakers can't have Hill as the starting C going into next season. They either draft a big man or they sign one in FA like Robin Lopez or Omer Asik.
