76ers Set Goal Of October 2016 For Joel Embiid

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Mon Aug 24, 2015 9:37 pm

Joel Embiid underwent surgery last week on his foot and the public timetable is five to eight months.

But the internal timeline is longer and even Sam Hinkie has ruled out Embiid for the entire 15-16 season.

"Talking to my sources, they want to see him return around October – not this October, but the next October, for that season," said Keith Pompey. "And he may not even return for the start of that season. He may miss a couple games. But that’s their goal."

I hope for his sake and the fans' sake that this wait ends up being worth it. Embiid needs to take it easy and just focus on making a full recovery before he returns. October 2016 is 14 months from now. He should have plenty of time.

Anyone that is rooting against this kid not to make it is one sick son of a biatch. You read so many sly comments about how he's a bust and is the next Greg Oden. People need to keep in mind that Zydrunas Ilgauskas also had bad foot injuries at start of his career but he still made it back to have a serviceable career. He also took his time to get his body right before he came back. Anyways I wish Embiid nothing but the best and really hope he makes it back.

I'll believe it when I see it

His date keeps getting pushed back.

Realistically at this rate, I am expecting a return in May 2022.

Philly should decline his 3rd year team option. They can sign him long term for cheaper, and hope for the best as a long term project.

Works for 76ers but I don't think Embiid would accept a longer term discount deal like you are suggesting. He'd probably insist on a shorter deal because he knows he can still come back from the injury and potentially dominate
