Sean Marks To Return As Nets GM Next Season

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Sat Apr 13, 2024 1:05 pm

The Brooklyn Nets have gone through a disappointing season, seeing their streak snapped after five consecutive playoff appearances. However, falling short of the postseason won't cost general manager Sean Marks his job. Marks will return to Brooklyn for the offseason and next season.

Marks' first order of business will be hiring a new head coach. The Nets are expected to undergo a wide-ranging search for their next coach. Brooklyn fired Jacque Vaughn after he got off to a 21-33 start this season. Kevin Ollie replaced Vaughn and has gone 11-16 as Brooklyn's interim head coach.

"Joe and I have always been in complete partnership," Marks said about hiring the next coach and his role in the process. "And it doesn’t mean we always agree. I mean, you have to have good discussions and robust discussions, but Joe and I will make this decision, and he has given me no reason to believe that I won’t be able to make that decision. By the end of this I have no doubt that we’ll come and find the best person fit for this job."

First time in years I stopped watching Nets Basketball and canceled my YES subscription half way through. I guess I'll keep hopes he'll be fired in 2026.

Marks is leading a charmed life. Most of his major moves in Brooklyn have ended in complete failure and under his watch the Nets have experienced a sad slide back into being a crappy and irrelevant team with no elite talent in the pipeline. Why is Tsai saying "yes more please" to this guy again after the cascade of poor decisions and sad outcomes we've watched during his regime? I don't get it.
