Kurt Suzuki has been hired by the Los Angeles Angels as their new manager.
Suzuki spent 16 years in the MLB with five separate franchise and had worked as a special assistant to Angels general manager Perry Minasian over the past three years.
The Angels also considered Albert Pujols and Torii Hunter for the job to replace Ron Washington. The Angels did not consider Ray Montgomery for the job after he served as interim manager in place of Washington.
Suzuki becomes the organization\'s fifth manager since Mike Scioscia ended a 19-year run in 2018, following Brad Ausmus, Joe Maddon, Phil Nevin and Washington.
Pujols was considered the early favorite for the job and the preferred choice of owner Arte Moreno, but the Angels went in a different direction after a breakdown in talks.
