Former Sabres head coach Lindy Ruff will be behind Canada's bench for the world championship next month in Stockholm and Helsinki.
Ruff was fired by the Sabres on Feb. 20, ending a 16-year run as the team's coach. He coached Canada to a silver medal in the 2009 world championship and was an associate coach under Mike Babcock on Canada's 2010 gold-medal Olympic team.
"I said I want to coach," Ruff said Wednesday.
