Hmm, if one were to call Las Vegas and ask how much they could win if they bet on an American to win MVP this year. What do you think they would offer for odds? 1000 to one? 10,000 to one? More?

The only way one of those four players does not win MVP is if they are all riding in the same limo and it gets hit by a train or a falling meteor.

The only way one of those four players does not win MVP is if they are all riding in the same limo and it gets hit by a train or a falling meteor.

It's not THAT bad at all, because all other relevant contenders are Americans. So cumulative 2023 odds are just about 2:1 in the favor of the international players!

But if you, back in 2018, when no foreigners on the all-NBA 1st team, and only one in all 3 all-NBA three teams, asked bookmakers for the odds that every of the next 5 season MVP award goes to the foreigners, then yes, they would literally give you a 1000+ odds!

the title of this thread is misleading. Tatum finished top 4 in MVP voting and he is NOT a foreign player.

I see it looks like you posted a graphic showing the top 4 candidates (with doncic instead of tatum) but that was from a post in August.

Pretty pointless to be listing the top 4 MVP candidates 2 months before the season has even started.
