Wow I didn't realize they were paid so little. So even when Vonleh was sent down his contract was allocated to that structure?
There is also more overhead than player salaries. Also coaches, whatever you pay the arena, and maybe a couple more thing. 50 game league(25 home), say you average on the higher side of fans at 2k a game and average ticket price at $15. That gets you 750k for tickets, that's if the team keeps all ticket revenue. I really don't know how that works. Plus a share of concessions probably does net you a small amount in the black. I would assume enough to keep it alive as long as we are getting enough talent and player development.

Vonleh was on his rookie contract (2M+). D-League players who aren't under contract with an NBA team would get that measly salary, which is shockingly low. $13,000 a year? If you worked 40 hours a week for an entire year at $6.50 an hour, you'd make than $13,000 in a year. That's not even enough to make a living unless you live out in the middle of nowhere where cost of living is dirt cheap.
