Re: Prodigal Son: The Miles Bridges Thread
If we want him, I think he stays. Hardly anyone has cap space to sign him and we (for better or worse) stuck with him through all his drama. That has to count for something.
If we didn't want to keep him, we've had tons of chances to cut him or trade him by now. I think that report is basically hallway gossip.

Re: Prodigal Son: The Miles Bridges Thread
I want us to sign Miles back, but ultimately MILES and his agent need to communicate what their intentions are. Does he want to be here? Is he committed to staying and playing without issues or does he think he needs a fresh reset in a different city? Those are real, complex questions that hopefully he will answer. We can pay him more than anyone else but would we?
I do think an ideal trade scenario would be combining him with Hayward to get a quality player/vet back plus another on their rookie contract. What combination, or who/where that would come from, have no idea. However, we cannot expect PJ to be our answer as our starting PF. He has value and I’m glad we resigned him but his best role is 6th/7th man. So maybe trade Mikes for a steady strong vet big worthy of starting and also get a young defensive guard/point guard we can grow with.

I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Re: Prodigal Son: The Miles Bridges Thread
In no world do I see us letting Miles walk or even trading him now make us a better team. We would absolutely be taking a step backwards and we are already likely trading or letting Hayward walk for less value then he gives us on the court.
If we want to be a top 10 pick this year and a top 5 pick next year then yes this is the route to go. Trading your 2nd best player for pennies when you have a bottom 5 payroll is a losing move.

Miles can also accept or veto any potential deal we include him in. Not that I think he would really care too much because he would have the ability to leave the team next year.

Re: Prodigal Son: The Miles Bridges Thread
i think miles wants to be here, but it will come down to money. he's klutch. they aren't giving us a discount for him being a timebomb or pr nightmare. he will want north of 130. if we aren't ready to pay that, or not willing to bet on him staying out of legal trouble, or new front office (maybe) not wanting to tie their careers to miles... then you trade him in feb to a contender and get what you can. he won't veto a move to a playoff team.
if we want him here and feel comfortable with a 5/130 deal, then take your chances, keep him and try to resign.

I am at the point where I really don't care if they resign him or he walks. I see the business side to both.
I don't think he's getting traded

Losing Miles would set our "rebuild" if you want to call what we've been doing the last 5 years as building, back another 3 years probably. We're gonna be back to drafting 7-12 and hoping to get another lucky Miles caliber pick for years

it's Jake Fischer. He "reports" 19 things at a time and hopes 1 or 2 actually happen

Yeah. Rather than, ya know, just ask the guy, 'journalist' Jake asks guys about the guy. The 'people are telling me' schtick is so tiresome. As a writer, I'm pretty embarrassed by how journalism has devolved.

Best to stay off the GB and Trade board. A lot of MB is a bad guy, we wouldn't give you much for him but he is a great fit and talented takes.
Nobody is willing to give up even a first round pick worth of value for him, so at that point why even trade him?

I get the sense Miles wants to be here plus we'll offer him more money than anyone. He really likes playing with Ball. We have a core four, just need to surround them with 3 and D players and get another creator off the bench (if Rozier doesn't want to come off the bench)
I don't support domestic violence. Thanks Miles

watching him yesterday a lot of his offense isn't overly smart either, he's a talented athlete who has a decent shot, but not someone i would want to rely upon.
