starting from scratch draft (21th pick)
Assuming that all teams' rosters were cleared and there was a draft with the Bobcats having the 21st pick, who would you guys pick? The following players would be unavailable. The draft order btw is based on attendance figures.
Chicago: Rose
Portland: James
Cleveland: Howard
Dallas: Durant
Miami: Griffin
New York: Wall
Utah: Wade
LA Lakers: Deron Williams
Orlando: Paul
Golden State: Anthony
Boston: Bryant
San Antonio: Nowitzki
OKC: Westbrook
LA Clippers: Love
Phoenix: Curry
Denver: Aldridge
Washington: Rondo
Detroit: Irving
Toronto: Bogut
Houston: Hayes

Re: starting from scratch draft (21th pick)
Is it going to be a snake draft (eg: we pick again soon) or will it be in the same top to bottom order each round?
Are you looking for a team to win this year only or look to build for the future?
P.S. Great idea BTW - hope you run it all summer.

It's a snake draft. Age of players should be a factor in your decision. I will do 5 rounds (until all teams have a starting 5).

I'm tossing up between the two Gasol's, Amare, Z-Bo, Big Al, Nash, Bosh...........
I think I'm going to go with the youth, size and all round game of Marc Gasol though.

Re: starting from scratch draft (21th pick)
take amare now and hope gasol comes back on the flip side. how can you turn down a big man who puts up 25ppg and is still youngish. yeah, he has his flaws, but gotta start with a go-to scorer, right? i do love me some marc gasol though.

Re: starting from scratch draft (21th pick)
...why the hell would you base it on attendance figures? At the very least shouldn't it have been percentage instead of raw number, so teams with smaller arenas aren't penalized if they still fill them up? Wouldn't change anything for the Bobcats, but still...
Marc Gasol is getting a bit overrated here because he had a pretty good playoffs... he's still just a good young center, not a franchise fixture. It's definitely Amare, I'm shocked by several of the people taken ahead of him (Irving? Wall? HAYES????). Bosh would be my second choice.

There are such a lack of legit 7 foot skilled C's though. It's the hardest position to fill - plus he is skillful enough to have an impact straight away while still being young enough to have loads of gas in the tank to build around for the next 5 years.
On top of that I like the "prick" that be brings. He has a bit of animal in him.
And it wasn't just the playoffs. He averaged 12/7/2.5/1.7 on good %'s last regular season in only about 30mpg. That's not too shabby. He played about 4mins less per game this season too. If he had played 35+ again he might have been up a couple of points and boards a game.
The other guy I would consider would be Lopez - but I don't really like him and I like M.Gasol!
I like the stability Gasol can bring. We can get a scorer in the 2nd or 3rd round IMO.

Re: starting from scratch draft (21th pick)
I guess the OP just takes the 1st name posted because he's already on the T.Wolves board with the 24th pick saying we took Amare (Fats was the 1st one to actually post a name I guess?).
Might also explain why the Rockets are down with Hayes.

Re: starting from scratch draft (21th pick)
LOL then (and especially only 5 rounds planned like we shouldn't do Kahn and stacking the smae position if it happens to be BPA).
Funny that with opposite order (makes sense as attempt to "fix" the league) we would get Nowitzki. I hope someone will pick Jimmer for Utah

Oh I certainly see the logic, and I think M. Gasol has a very bright future in front of him. I just don't think he's worth a first round pick in this sort of draft. If he puts up his playoff numbers next year, then absolutely, but there are a lot of guys who have had a 12/7 year and never got much better.
I actually kind of regret picking Amare over Bosh now... I think I let the fact that he was playing on the Heat cloud how great he was for Toronto.

So if we're quick we could go around to all the other boards and do their picks for them

"With the first pick Minnesota select Desagna Diop."

I 2nd Amare but would heavily have to consider Bosh. No WAY you take Gasol with those guys there.

Re: starting from scratch draft (21th pick)
No way would I select Amare over Bosh. Amare is a born loser and black hole. Bosh still has a lot of years left in his prime and his game will translate well when he is older. Plus his defense is starting to improve now that he has been coached it, unlike Amare.
