The rules/criteria
- You have to fill out all the roster spots by selecting one player for each category.
- You can fill the categories in any order you wish.
- You must tell which category your selection is for at the time of the selection.
- No player can be selected by two different teams.
- The team is for next season, not a team to build for the future. The winner will be the team that has the best chance of winning an NBA title next year (as voted on by the other managers).
- You do not have to select a player who is currently in the NBA. (you can select a player playing overseas or in the NBDL or other leagues or even someone who is recently retired)
- There is no "do not draft list" this year.
Draft
- Done via message board. Dont sign up if you dont plan to visit the board several times per day.
- Serpentine draft (i.e if you pick 10 you will also pick 11. if you pick 1 you wont pick again until 20)
- There is a time limit on picks. Each person gets 6 hours to make their pick. Hours only count between 8AM and 1AM EST. (example if it becomes your pick at 10PM then you have until 11AM to make your pick). If time expires and you have not made your pick, the next person can go ahead and make their pick. The person who was skipped can make their pick at any time after.
- People who go several days w/out making their pick will either have their team given to someone else or their team will simply be shut down.
Winner
- After the draft each team will vote for the team that they think has the best chance at winning the finals in 2010.
- You cant vote for your own team.
- You get 3 votes (first, second, third). first is worth 3pts, second is worth 2pts, third is worth 1pt. most points wins.

- Use basketball-reference.com as the source for your data, such as college, city of birth, height and weight.

OK using the random number generator your number was 11. i will give the tie to the existing person at 11 and slot you in at 12 and move 13 and 14 down one spot. sorry everyone. this is what happens when you try to multitask at work.

Didn't manage to post in time in the previous thread - yeah I'm alright with being a co-owner of my team with Doc. Plus it seems like we both aren't that often online during the summer, so we could cover for each other. Doc - we need to decide how we'll reach one another. You have disabled PMs. Are you on skype?

Aren't all PMS aside from mods to users (and then users can respond) disabled?
Also, checking in. When do we start?
EDIT: Duh, tomorrow. Okay.

I send my email address to fat, he should forward it to you. I will only try to bring up some non-obvious hidden gems, let most of decision making on you and help picking within limit once we will have our draft board set. I am not keen on checking college basketball pedigree at least at this momment.

I read it as you can later move into another fitting category otherwise I would object this rule

Trading picks not allowed?

Re: Scavenger Hunt Draft - starts Friday 8AM EST
Ok, I'm now convinced the Toothpick category needs some reshaping. I have hard time to find enough players for that category. I mean, I am finding player like 6'4'' below 190 but they should actually be below 170 - the saem as if they were 4 inches shorter. The steps make it very difficult to find dsomeone who qualifies, you basically need to find thin players measuring 6'9", 6'5'' or 6'0'' or just inch higher all others are done. For example Terry, as quite typical case, is 6'2'' and 176 not slender enough.
I've found some, the usual suspects but even they barely make it.

google "left handed NBA players". you will find it. there is at least 25 that i counted, maybe a few more if you include rookies.

i have found 35 so far for this category. there are plenty.
guys 6'9" and over have to be 220 or less
guys 6'5" to 6'8" have to be 190 or less
guys 6'0" to 6'4" have to be 170 or less
sorry if my wording was confusing.
bball-ref has height and weight of each player listed on the roster page of each team. so you really only need to look at 30 pages to find everyone who is eligible. like i said, i went through all 30 pages today and found at least 35 players.
some examples - garrett temple is 6'6" but weighs less than 190, sebastian telfair is 6'0" but weight 165, alexis ajinca is 7'0" but weighs 220. all are eligible for "toothpick" category.

So is the strategy to take BPA and find a category for them, then?
