what do you guys think about this?

not sure why jefferson would sign for another bad team. he has been on bad teams his whole career. he should wait for the howard drama to unfold then try to land with either dallas or houston if they dont get howard.

It would seem to mean we are officially ending the tank. Right in time for a stacked draft. Seems odd.

I personally think he's going to one of Dallas, Houston, Atlanta, or gets signed and traded to a contender. I think he'll just blow us off unless we're grossly overpaying. Last thing we need is to sign an enormous contract to player that will hurt our tank, but not help us enough to become contenders. Also makes no sense given we just drafted Zeller.

I think this may put us in playoff contention which is fine with me. Very good offensively. Defensively not so much. The difference between him and Biyombo offensively would net us a lot more wins based on that alone. Also have to consider the improvement that Walker, Henderson, and MKG will have and the addition of Zeller.

Well the team could still not be all that good, but the wrong message to send to a fanbase is that you plan on sucking...again.

Jefferson would be a good fit in Charlotte at the right price.

I think the Pelicans looming offer for Tyreke Evans has something to do with this. The Pelicans would not be offering big money to Tyreke unless they had a serious suitor engaged and ready to pull the trigger on Eric Gordon. We have Ben Gordon's expiring contract plus a Portland pick that has maybe enticed the Pelicans.

Al Jefferson would agree if Eric Gordon was here, plus Kemba, no?

Kemba Walker/Sessions
Eric Gordon/Henderson
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist/Taylor
Cody Zeller/McRoberts
Al Jefferson/Biyombo

Ken Berger of CBSSports.com reports that the Charlotte Bobcats are opening up the 2013 free agency period by pursuing Jazz forward/center Al Jefferson.

Jefferson averaged 18 points and nine rebounds last season for Utah, and is considered one of the best available free agents in this class. He would instantly become the best player on the rebuilding Bobcats, who drafted forward/center Cody Zeller in Thursday's draft.

Jefferson is the kind of player the Bobcats can afford to toss a huge offer to, and take a gamble on. Paired with Bismack Biyombo, the Bobcats' frontcourt might be able to make a little bit of progress since.... the establishment of the franchise.

The Jazz have sent mixed signals about their intentions regarding efforts to re-sign Jefferson. The cats

If Gordon's knees were okay, I'd possibly be on board with ending the tank for that. :o

Keep in mind that Gordon was equaling Blake Griffin's scoring output in his crazy rookie year.

No I am perfectly fine with sucking 1 more season if it means getting a potential All-Star on our team. We have been awful these last 10 years, whats 1 more going to do, seriously.

Plus Jefferson is only 28, although it feels like he's 48. A 4 year deal would be perfectly fine

Plus with DET possibly signing Josh Smith, perhaps we still get pick 9 or 10 in the 2014 draft from their top-8 protected pick.

We could still add a great young player to that core. 4/5 of those starters are really young.

Nothing against Biyombo or even McRoberts, but boy would it be nice to have two.offensively skilled guys like Zeller and Jefferson down low..

Can we sign Jefferson and let him play overseas for a year?

I've also been suspicious of their money situation. Can they really afford to have an empty arena as the Hornets? I'd say you rebrand with the intention of really reestablishing the value of the Hornets brandname. You have to put out a contender. I think we see Jefferson plus Eric Gordon or possibly O.J. Mayo.

Plus we have to at least show that were trying to get better for the season ticket holders. 28-120 or whatever with the promise of next years draft will only take you so far as a franchise

That's right. I feel like the rebranding with the original Hornets brand was timed for when the team was ready to jump out of the rebuild and win back the fans. I seriously doubt they could have got away with a Hornets team that too closely resembles the Bobcats. Amnesty Tyrus Thomas.

Tell that to fans who keep going to the games to watch the team get their ass kicked.

I don't think Jefferson would make the Bobcats a playoff team. They still wouldn't be great, but they do need to improve the team somehow. You don't want to make Clifford another lame duck hire.
