Fake Trade Thread 2014-15

Post#1 » by Eoghan » Wed May 14, 2014 4:08 am

Mod Note: Please post all fake trades here. We will merge any new threads of this type into this thread or simply lock them. If there is actual trade rumor that involves one of our players, then feel free to create a new thread. - Thanks

I couldn't find the last one but we'll be embarking on trade talk here soon to upgrade the roster during the Summer.

With SVG taking the reigns in Detroit the value of the pick is going to go south presumably. So, with that in mind, would anyone seriously consider this?

Hendo
Zeller

for

Josh Smith
#8 pick (protection removed)

I'll catch flack for including Zeller but I have to give the Pistons something. Smith is a knucklehead but if Clifford can get him to accept his role of a shot blocking, rebounding PF he'd be a rare good fit next to Al. With the pick we can get a shooter at SG (Young, Stauskas, maybe McDermott) or even get lucky and catch a falling star. Get another nice wing prospect at 24 with Warren, Early, Robinson III, D. Daniels for bench spacing. Still have some cap space leftover.

Dont see how Detroit would accept that.

Well, they were reportedly shopping him around like crazy in February once they had realized that it is one bad contract...

However, yeah, them also giving up the pick seems to be far-fetched. If SVG does join them, I'm sure that he wouldn't start off by trading away a good draft pick instantly and not even giving Josh Smith a chance.

didn't Josh Smith help Atlanta beat the SVG Magic?

I can see him wanting to give him a try, definitely not giving away assets just to get rid of him.

We give up Zeller and take on one of the top unmovable contracts in the entire NBA?

Just because we're convinced next year's top-1 protected pick will end up being that much worse than McDermott?

Jesus Christ!

It's amazing how you can make that sound like a great deal for us and a bad one for them - takes special talent.

Detroit can't be that desperate to take on our two most unwanted players for their most unwanted player.

I don't even think Detroit would do that trade with their #8 pick excluded from the deal

:nonono: :nonono: :noway: :noway: Stan VG knows Coach Clifford well and neither are interested in BS Trades.
We absolutely do not want Josh Smith...He would destroy any good teams locker room. With Stucky probably leaving He might be interested in Biz and Henderson for Monroe on a Sign and trade? SVG is defense minded and both players bring that to the Pistons where they would probably lose Monroe anyway as a RFA.
Then if we were to trade Zellar,Haywood,(Cash) and the 24th pick to ORL for Afflalo and Nelson
Then we sign FA Luol Deng.
Then Re-sign Tolliver
Then sign PO Byron Mullens
KW,Nelson
Afflalo,Neal
Deng,MKG
Monroe, Tolliver
Al, Mullens
This team gets us to 5-6 position in the east next season.

Detroit would laugh at Biyombo and Henderson for Monroe.

And to be honest it looks pretty bad on our end as well. I would despise a Monroe signing, at least while Jefferson is here.

That's it right there I think. I still feel like we're missing a major PG contender.

Was wondering that...don't recall any other PG rumors, but surely there must have been someone. Roll with Livingston as the fan favorite?

I mean maybe we go with Sessions for this offseason?

BB what's with your obsession with Barnes? Hendo had better shooting %'s this year and is a better defender, and neither can really create for themselves off the dribble. Kind of a toss up in my opinion, and I don't really want either starting.

The Hendo - Biz for Blatche - Thorton trade is interesting. Biz has higher upside than Blatche, but I'm a Thorton fan and would love bringing him off the bench. The numbers seem to work out, though the trade couldn't be done until after July. Not sure Brooklyn would do the trade though.
