Huh, I kinda like this. Would've preferred Terrence Jones but I like the upside here.

20 year old big that hits 3s in Summer League. We've found our young player to be excited about.

Re: Shams: Hornets sign Christian Wood to 2 year deal
He played at UNLV for two years, then went undrafted last year and played in the NBDL for 32 games and played for PHI for 17 games. He turns 21 in September.
Only 6'9" without shoes at the combine but has a 7'3" wingspan. Not much of a shooter, but his soph year at UNLV (at only 19) he averaged 15.5 points and 9.4 boards.
That's all I got.

Wonder if we used part of the Room Exception on him, not sure we could get him for the minimum.

Re: Shams: Hornets sign Christian Wood to 2 year deal
http://www.thebirdwrites.com/2016/7/13/12170126/2016-free-agency-swinging-for-the-fences-christian-wood-new-orleans-pelicans
Christian Wood has taken a unique path to the NBA. He left UNLV after his sophomore season and went undrafted. Then he got a short cup of coffee in the league (thank you Philadelphia 76ers) before going to work in the D-League. In 32 games with the Delaware 87ers, Wood averaged 17.3 points and 9.4 rebounds a game while shooting 52.9% from the field and 70.7% at the foul line. While his shooting at the foul line gives some promise of eventual development, thus far he has yet to extend his range beyond the immediate area around the basket, as his shot chart from the D-League explains in detail.
On the plus side Christian Wood is just 20 years old. In six summer league games (the 76ers also played in the Utah summer league), Wood is averaging 15.8 points and 5.7 rebounds in just 17.7 minutes per game while shooting 56.4% from the field, 31.6% (6/19) from three, and 73% from the foul line. Wood has a massive frame: 6'10.5" in shoes with a 7'3.25" wingspan and 9'3.5" standing reach. He's already packing on the pounds and looks far thicker than the 216 pounds he weighed at the NBA combine.

Based on one of the fancy draft modeling aggregators that MA posted in another thread, he graded out as a 1st round pick in a bunch of projections last year. http://www.tothemean.com/tools/draft-models/#/2015/dv2/all

I forget who it was but somebody on the board mentioned wanting him recently. I saw him play some in Summer League and he threw up some ugly 3s that weren't close. Definitely not a big enough sample size but that's my only real knowledge of him.
In theory he can "block shots" and "shoot 3s"

So he's averaging over 32 points and 12 boards per 36 in SL? I mean that's not awful.

Re: Shams: Hornets sign Christian Wood to 2 year deal
So, Wood was projected to be a first round prospect but his stock was "in free fall" after teams interviewed him at the combine last year. He went undrafted.
He was with Okafor the night of the fight in Boston. Not really sure what his role was there if any.
Talent wise he looks really promising.

My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody
