How much are you willing to pay him?

I wouldn't get beat by the market. If we're going to let him walk that's a massive misuse of assets.

We are a talent poor team, can't afford to have core pieces walk for nothing.

The plan has to either be,

A: Pay Miles

B. Sign and trade Miles if we're unwilling to pay.

I'd be surprised if another team offered him the max. He has not looked great this season to me, not like a max player anyway. Oubre put up nice stats for us last year and it didn't matter because teams realized he wasn't moving the needle. I actually think Miles can improve next year, he had a long layoff and this team dragged everyone down, but as-is he is not making a max player impact.

I'd start at 3yr/$75 million and see what the market looks like before moving up.

True.

I would assume they have a backup plan in case that does happen though. At least I hope new ownership does.

We're not gonna have cap space to make a major FA move if Miles walks and we waive Bertans, so there's only so much of a backup plan they can have. We have bird rights on Miles and at this point we really should start operating like an over the cap team.

Interesting that he said Mark, despite him not playing in so long, and left off Melo.

It appears that Plowright misquoted the question, it was specifically about being vocal on defense:

Dude is leading the league in MPG.

Glad he is getting rested being out with whatever Hornetbug bit him. I know some have called his production empty stats, but I didn’t expect him to be this strong and productive coming back from his penalty. Shows me he was working out hard and dedicated to playing well. He’s got a lot to learn on defense and his court awareness, but hopeful we bring him back. He’s earned his next contract, whomever pays him.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

He's also near the top at shots per game. :o

Miles should be a top 10 scorer with his shot attempts. Just shows you he's not efficient and he better not ask for a max contract.

I get Miller's your guy, but Miles has not exactly been stealing shots from a deep roster of scorers this season.

With how awful our offense has been, I think Miles has performed better than should have been expected.

Yeah clearly we have overextended him in both playing time and fga but neither were by design. We just lacked real depth all year especially guys that can score evidence by our 28th overall Off Rating for the year.

Right before PJ was traded to Dallas there was a rumor that they were one of the teams interested in Miles. Then it was announced that Miles would not sign off on a trade and he was staying.

If they struggle in the playoffs I would offer to sign and trade him for PJ back. If we could squeeze an extra pick out of the deal even better.

Yeah, PJs contract is better than the one Miles will likely get

I think we already made a decision when we traded PJ over Miles. There was rumors Dallas wanted Miles.

Obviously they felt Miles was worth keeping over PJ.

You might be right. I was just thinking there is a chance they tried to make a deal with Bridges and when he declined his no trade option they slotted in PJ instead. Dallas had been linked to both players in the past.

And of course we tried to get Grant last offseason so maybe we really wanted Grant.

Derozan is the amazing stat, 35 years old and leading the league in total minutes played. Impressive
