I think LaMelo is going to get healthy and hit his stride again. Mark though? Yeah....I'm worried about him.

random question for anyone whose been to home games recently...
does melo typically sit near the bench in street clothes? i almost never see him around the bench at home games, only road games.

I noticed this too but then realized our injury list is so long that there are actually two rows of injured player seats and he's been in the back with Mark. Probably giving more recently injured guys a chance at the floor seats

I never see him engaged or seemingly interested, especially the home games. Road games seem like he's more of a captive audience. Last night at the end of the game as we took timeout to draw up last play, miles, seth, cody, micic, nick are all seen looking into the huddle. just little things like that sometimes give me pause with melo. I'll look again next few home games. I might just have a bias on this one. not a huge deal that melo doesn't behave exactly how i want him to. he's a different dude.

Very interesting article with some sobering stats:

The good news, both Zion Williamson and Joel Embiid played significantly less games than Ball in their first four seasons and now rank in the upper echelons of the NBA. The bad news, those are the only two players out of the last 240 all-stars to reach that level after missing the same or more amount of time than Ball. The likes of Steph Curry and Anthony Davis, who NBA history labelled as "Injury prone" young players had almost played another entire season's worth of basketball at the same stage as LaMelo Ball. Yikes.

Of the players on the above list, Steph Curry is the only player who one could argue completely overcame their injuries. The rest have regularly dealt with injuries throughout their career, suggesting some people's bodies aren't built for the rigours of an NBA season. Ball's career path so far suggests he might fall into this category, talented but never far from the next injury.

The mega contract extension sort of reminds me of the one given to Larry Johnson. The team knew Johnson was having some back issues, but committed the money anyway. LaMelo’s ankle problems aren’t necessarily as iffy as backs can be, but a bad wheel won’t let you play well if it never heals up. I hope Melo puts the time in for training, conditioning, etc.

Back issues are far more concerning than ankle issues. Which is why Mark is the one that worries me more. We’ve seen our own players overcome back issues too though (Baron Davis). LJ, who relied on his explosiveness and upper body was never the same. Did that happen before his extension? I was in like 6th grade then so I don’t remember.
