Repeated injuries and lack of healing are more concerning than anything.

Melo is going on 3 years of bum ankle. It's at the point to where it'll be a surprise if he ever plays a healthy season again.

Mark still has some benefit of the doubt

I know success isn't over night, but it is incredibly rare for a player to win an NBA title before the age of 26/27.

LaMelo is 22 yrs old, feels crazy the amount of national writers that want to write him off.
Kemba wasn't an allstar until age 26.

Number 14 in jersey sales this past season. Crazy for a guy that barely played in two years and is in a small market.

Somehow hisbstar power hasn't faded much.

The big question is how much of not returning to health is because we weren't playing for anything anyway. Seems like the organization has been in tanking mode the last two years.

He's the OBJ of the NBA.

Kid is a rockstar no doubt.

If OBJ played for the Panthers he'd be another DJ Moore. If that. The market made Beckham.

No the catch made Beckham. The hair and swag off the court put him at another level.

Giants fan here. It was all of it not just one thing IMO. It was the catch that got wider attention from national media and what not but the consistent domination his first 3 seasons + being in NY is what made him so popular. The TD celebrations, the one handed catches, the hair. All of it is what attracts younger gen people to some of these sports figures.

LaMelo is a little different. I think he speaks to the zoomer generation better than any other star out there right now (which is why most of us can't understand him at all). He also came into the league with the flair, was known from the show, had a lot of hype, has all of the bold fashion stuff, won RotY and started to make an irrelevant team relevant outside of us hardcore fans.
