If our newer front office and coaching staff are prepared with good scouting data, the workouts and interview process can be a decision maker between candidates. I hope they:

1. Do NOT become twitterpated by measurables or a dazzling athleticism alone. This has cost many a GM to be made foolish.

2. Ask probing questions and observe within staged environments (planned encounters) to gain insight into CHARACTER, LEADERSHIP, COMPETITIVENESS and TOUGHNESS. We need that for our core badly.

3. Have the key candidates match up to our best players (if that is still allowed) in a controlled practice to measure their abilities, skills and drive.

All teams have their methodology for doing this, but the Hornets will be entirely new (apart from our consultants). Hope they’re good at this.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Our pick for both New Orleans picks (currently 14 and 22).

Our pick for OKC's pick #12 and one or two of their future picks. (they own like 20 of them)

Our pick for Utah's 8th pick and one of their future picks. (own a bunch of them).

If going this route, I’d prefer trading down for 8th and a future pick. That way we still get a player worthy of development (one of Cody Williams, Ron Holland or Castle should be available). Accumulating picks in a weak draft (New Orleans idea) is tempting, but with a team full of young players…I don’t know. Yeah, you could nab a decent guard at 14, maybe Edey or another big at 22, but an even bigger gamble overall.

Also regarding Edey…is he better that Nick now, or does Richards still project as the more NbA capable back up? I’m not sure, but I know Nick has a better motor and more mobility. Edey will be a load on the blocks, but I don’t see him expanding his game beyond everything we’ve seen already.

I would say Edey has the greatest potential to expand his game because he didn't start playing basketball until very late in life. He has also shown rapid progression. In high school he was a backup that averaged 3 pts per game. Not many guys with those numbers in high school go on to play D1 ball. Going from that to one of the most dominate players in the history of college basketball is very impressive.

If we had both Edey and Nick on the squad next year who is better would probably be matchup dependent. If you are matching up with a post player like Joker, I would go with Edey. If we are playing some bruisers like the Det guys it would be better to also go with the more physical Edey. If the other team is going small and Edey has a hard time covering that it might be better to go with Nick at times.

What happened to us last year also shows the value of having three legit centers. Somebody is going to get hurt so you need a backup and a backup for the backup. Having three guys would also allow us to load manage minutes. With Nick on a value deal and both Edey and Mark on rookie deals we could easily afford it.

GoBobs might love Edey more than JustBuzzin loves Miller

Paul George actually my favorite player. Good thing we got his clone. So my transition to Miller will be smooth.

My ultimate pipedream is we somehow sign Paul George in FA. I might make that 3 hour trip to Charlotte to see them on a regular basis. 8-)

Word is Philly will be the team he signs with if he decides to leave the Clippers.

I was utterly wrong on Tyrese Proctor this season, as I usually am. Glad he returned to Duke though.

If Reed Sheppard can be half as good as Payton Prichtard is when he plays us, he's the #1 pick.

Spurs beat Denver.

We are now 3rd in the lottery.

Don't worry we will win our last game and drop back to 4th. The Charlotte way! 8-)

Topic is still my prize pick of this draft. But Castle is looking like the perfect fit.

We have three players capable of scoring 20 if Miles returns. Mann & NSJ have upside as a bench backcourt. Mann creates rim pressure, NSJ spaces. Mann is a steal machine. He could really balance the perimeter defense for the bench backcourt.

It's great if we stay in the top-3 to give us a shot at Topic. But if we fall a couple notches, I think Castle may still be there at 5.

Really stoked about the new culture and look forward to discovering the coach who will preside over this very young team.

Castle is basically pre-injury MKG. He can play a role, but I don't see that as worthy of a top 3 pick.

The way Alabama guarded Castle shows you what other teams think about his shooting. Great he made these 2 threes, but shooting sub 27% when this is how you are guarded is a pretty big concern.

Yeah, 2 guards who cannot shoot 3's at all is not going to work well in 2024.

I do NOT want any player who cannot shoot. Don’t care if their defense is high end…been there done that and it sucks. MKG was a disaster. Pick doesn’t have to be the best shooter…but must be capable and competent. I like Castle, but he’s a poor shooter from distance, and not reliable when guarded. If we’re picking 9th or later…maybe.

Clingan is a riser and really earns consideration as high as 3rd. In a weaker draft, his size and skill set place him near the top. Workouts will set the table on all these guys. If the foreigners blow people away, they reestablish themselves as most sought (Risarcher, Sarr, Topic). Among American players, those with the most potential to break toward the top are Clingan, Sheppard and Dillingham. Cody Williams could still be a wild card to sneak into the top 5.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Let's just offer our 1st to Boston for Pritchard. Boom. Melo will make a fine backup pg.

What would Miles and the #1 pick get us in a trade?
