I think all acknowledge that Junior needs a lot more training, development and time to realize his fullest potential, whatever that may be. With our additions, he can back down the pressure to produce, use practice and the occasional sessions with coaching to refine his weak spots. Agree Mann could and should continue to improve while already showcasing better skills. NSJ and the other former contributors will have to work hard to keep their jobs, as they should.

I'd dump Cody Martin (who sucks) before burying a sniper like Nick Smith Jr. through his rookie contract.

Mann looks like he's not going anywhere in restricted free agency following next season. He looks like a keeper, critical longterm core piece as one of the game's most formidable PG2.

LaMelo - Micic - Mann is so tough as a PG rotation.

Make the right pick (Nikola Topic) and we're set up for a whopping consolidation move. We will never bleed talent like OKC, but we didn't have Durant, Russell, Paul George as a starting point either.

The Hornets did a commendable job mining PG2 talent in the Hayward trade, turning a sidelined video game addict Bible Thumper Pillsbury Dough Boy into 2 players who could contribute in a playoff level rotation, plus 2 second round picks sprinkled over the deal as sweeteners? Added to the mix when the dessert already came with a cherry on top?

Delectable.

Doesn't feel like there's much separation other than age between Micic and Giddey or maybe I'm high? Mann looks like he will one day win a starting spot somewhere.

Hayward's career is ending.

Zero overreaction here from 1 game lol, keep up the great work.

The guy we acquired for Gordon Hayward is going to post triple-doubles in his early and mid-twenties. He's also restricted.

He already had a triple double last season.

Need to sign Liagelo again so we can have a Mann and 2 Balls.

Then we package our combo guards for Grady Dick.

And our transformation will be complete.

from gt
mann is not quite what i expected
- he is much more east-west, which is needed, gets that paint touch that creates havoc
- very good in 2-man p/r with big
- gets some tunnel vision looking for role man
- more like (less explosive) monk than nsj. nothing like bouk, because mann can actually dribble.

Yeah I'm pleasantly surprised so far. Looks a lot more dynamic than I expected. Hoping he's able to be efficient

I heard knocks on his defense but I don't see it at all. He looks fine guarding and fits within team scheme.

My thoughts so far as well. Seems like kind of a less talented version of Monk that still might be solid. This team could use a poor man's Monk on a cheap contract.

Moves his feet well here. About as tall as Bouknight (6'4"+ in shoes) but negative wingspan (6'4") puts him in the same boat as Monk (6'3" in shoes, 6'3" wingspan). Bouk's wingspan: 6'8", guy's really wasting his God-given talents.

I said this in Game Thread, but he reminds me a bit of Jeremy Lamb when we got him from Okc.
Lamb was 12th pick, but never really figured it out there- 15 min, 7 ppg in three years.
Mann is 18th pick, got buried a bit just like Lamb. 19 min, 8.5 ppg in three years.

In terms of him as a player, his handle is good but still a bit loose.
He looks like he short arms some of his shots, so getting him with Bruce could be a game changer.

If he becomes a nice bench piece for 10-12 ppg then that trade was gravy.

god lamb was such an enigma, wasn't he? i like that mann has decent pg skills. i like him much better as a pg with that frame.
funny though... melo, mann, miller at 1,2,3 would have to be the skinniest collection of twigs in the league.

Lamb was always one of my favorite players, even before coming here.

I still remember that wild buzzer beater he hit

Is this guy going to be a starter next year?

Would be crazy if he turns into a solid starter for us. Now that really opens up the draft. Miller probably moves to SF moving forward.

What makes him balance LaMelo better is the rim pressure. Tre Mann has it. We can see how he applies it in space. LaMelo will space and open up the defense.

Defensively, Mann is an upgrade over Terry. He's a better secondary playmaker. Better defender. Makes quicker decisions rather than killing the shot clock. So he's giving the team quality possessions as opposed to bad ones that happen when a player pounds and probes and holds the ball too long.

Would totally change our outlook if he's indeed the long term starter. I think we will know for sure at the end of the season. He's off to a great start for sure.

Us dropping back a couple of spots won't hurt as much if Mann is indeed legit. We can still get a good rotation piece at 6 or 7 in the draft.
