they need to keep him from competitors if they want him, i think Miami have already indicated interest.

He's the obvious stretch 4/5 UFA

Saric would also be a good vet get, but I think he stays at GSW

Muscala would be a cheap stretch big with veteran and playoff experiance. he could start in a pinch

Raptors traded a first round pick for Olynk, I doubt they aren't prepared to offer him good money.

That was a head scratcher that trade

Thanks to you guys I improved so much in drafting over the years. The majority of players I posted a year ago were on no mocks and now nearly all of them are on the mocks and high picks at that. That is thanks to this board. A lot of critisizm at first, then silence, then respect. Like I said before I scouted players based on what you guys liked so it made drafting way easier.

We are sneaky scary moving forward.

Miller/Miles with the new pieces has us winning games. Imagine when Melo/Mark return. You talking about 4 legit young talents and we have our new and improved supporting cast + our lottery pick.

Hard to see how we are not the most attractive HC job this offseason.

Jalen Smith could be available as a good size 4/5 who can shoot and start when needed.

Depth depth and more depth. No more bull of having 9 gleagures on the bench. It takes serious depth to stay afloat when injuries are nonstop.

The Plan: Updated Edition

Higher Priorities:
Re-sign Miles.
Find a new Coach

Draft:
Pick Reed Sheppard (assuming we're around 5th). Smart, great shooter, good defender.
Sell the 2nd round pick (we don't have one ourselves, it's a late 2nd). Don't need more 2nd rounders on the team.

Free Agency:

Main Target:
Kelly Olynyk as backup PF/C. We need somebody who can play C and PF, our other PF's are small and our C's can't shoot.

Other Potential Signings:

Obi Toppin, athletic, versatile. Fun dunks.
Hartenstein. A backup plan for Olynyk. A backup C who can also start and is better than Nick.
Mason Plumlee. Will the GOAT make his return to his throne?

General Stuff:

Keep Seth Curry because it's cool to have a Curry on the team.
Try to consolidate some of our combo guards into a better guard SG/SF for Cody injury insurance and maybe a 6thman upgrade.
Cut Bertans. Poku took his place as the skinny 7 foot Euro. Saves money.

Rough Team Depth Chart:

NSJ, Bailey, Nnaji are in the G-league.

Melo - Mann - Micic- Curry
Reed - Cody
Miller- Grant
Miles - Kelly - Poku
Mark - Richards

Lingering need: Scoring 6th man.

President: Jeff Peterson
GM: ?
Coach: Someone besides Clifford

Filled most things with guys from OKC's bench.

Why Sheppard?

I look at our wing situation and Miller is the only real true wing. Both Miles and Grant are more pf.

I think we need to go legit best wing available if we keep our pick.

It's going to take a significant amount of convincing for me to be okay drafting a short, unathletic, white dude named Reed in the lottery

Yeah let's get a 6"11 super bouncy, Bahamian that has no idea how to play basketball and only took up playing three years ago instead.

That seems like a much better idea.

Yes, like that fat, unathletic white dude in Denver.

I know that's an exaggeration, obviously Reed isn't Joker level, but not drafting Reed because of stereotypes isn't a good thing.

Would much rather draft players like Reed over more Kai's, Bouknights and Thor's who don't know how to play basketball.

One is a 7 footer, which is in and of itself an outlier trait

The other is 6'3 (in shoes?) with below average length and athleticism being drafted to function as a primary perimeter defender.

That math ain't mathing.

Says not drafting someone based on stereotypes is a bad thing

Then proceeds with a stereotype to not draft someone.

Giannis, to give you an equally outrageous example as Joker, "didn't know how to play basketball" either.

It goes both ways

Joker doesn't need to be a plus athlete. He's huge.

took a cursory look at the draft profiles for the top 5 or 6 guys, and right now I hope we get Sarr, while his 3 pt % is not good, he appears to be good defensively. Lots of length. But probably won't fall to us

Shooting .469 and .447. He's close to 39% career from 3. Has size. Plays solid defense.

He's a huge upgrade over Martin while only earning 2 million per season. He will be unrestricted, and hopefully not feeling charitable towards the Bucks. He's 27 years old (Martin 28).

Absolutely cannot make assumptions that Melo and mark (and cody) will be healthy next year. Hornets need to get serious about having s plan in place to hedge against them missing huge chunks of time. Must have starter level backups in place at pg and c, if possible. Draft one use free agency on other.or trade picks for one sign another. Whatever it takes.

Not sure if micic or mann is starter level. We know for sure nick richards is not starter level.

One of the big challenges that faces the team right now, is how do we make Grant Williams and Miles Bridges work together?

I value both guys, they are both big pieces moving forward but we have seen the challenges of trying to play small with them at the 4/5 together. Clifford has done a good job of playing big with Bertans, Poku logging more minutes on the wing but is that a longterm answer? Do we play more Miles at the 3 next year? We haven't done that much this year because we lack front court depth right now.

Both players deserve more mins than just splitting the majority of their time at the 4.
