It makes total sense that a coach with the pedigree of Bud didn't want to come here considering we're a 21 win rebuilding team in a small market with questionable/unproven/relatively poor ownership. Have we ever paid a head coach above average money?

I'm thinking we're going to get news on the coach front today.

Have we even actually conducted any interviews yet? All I've seen is the list of coaches we intend to interview.

They haven't announced any interviews, but I don't think that means we aren't doing any

Remember when they said they'd have a new coach hired before the playoffs?

Seriously, you'd think after the last incident they wouldn't mess around and would just go after the guy they felt strongest about. Unless they're waiting to see if someone gets fired from the current playoff teams, idk what they're waiting for.

I can't find the reference quickly, but I'm pretty sure when they announced Cliff stepping down that they'd be aiming to hire a new head coach before the playoffs begin. Which I guess might be a challenge if they have 30 candidates.

I know Plowright said he thought that might happen, but I doubt the team said it. No real upside to putting an artificial deadline on your search process.

Maybe I'm wrong then, the Hornets discord certainly was under the impression they said before the playoffs.

Either way, who do we think is the top choice? Is it Charles Lee or some other dark horse? The first 3 candidates they announced only has one left (the best one). I still think it's a mistake to not go all in on Bud.

Bud would catapult LaMelo to new heights (if he stayed healthy). I'm talking All-NBA, he'd put up some serious numbers.

I find this idea interesting but idk. I like Redick and think hes a smart dude, but its hard to tell if the smart ex-player is actually going to have talent for coaching until youve actually seen them coach. Seems like he would be a risky hire at the very least.

I like Redick a lot and I think he could become a pretty good coach (eventually), but we should NOT hire him to be the head coach when he has zero experience.

Add someone completely out of the blue to the wide net being cast by the baby GM and owners. What coaching has Reddick done? None? Who the hell would consider putting someone with ZERO coaching experience as a HEAD COACH? He interviewed for the Raptors head coaching job back in 2023, but jeez…who even knows how he would interact with players from that spot, or handle managing people, his staff, etc?
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

WTF!

I was pushing this idea for the longest. Please let him be the hire. This dude is smart and knows the game. He was really high on Brandon Miller so this is not shocking he's interested in the job.

Cmon Hornets fans let's get behind this possible hire. :D
