Welcome To The New Forum

Post#1 » by Winterpeg » Sun Jun 15, 2008 11:33 am

As you may have noticed we have upgraded to the latest version of the forum software. We are still in the process of setting up all the features, so there is a chance you could encounter a few problems. If you do come across a bug please post it in the forum we have set up so that we can take care of it as quickly as possible.

I hate the way 3.0 looks. However, the control panel for the mods and admin will be easier for you guys. All I can say is once you guys get use to it you will love it.

Things I like:

The new post count or whatever until you become a realgm, and the various new levels.

Things I don't like:

No quick reply feature, I used this for about 90% of my posts so its a major bummer its gone.

The new look/layout - the old version was fine. It was very functional and easy to use, now my screen seems to be covered with too many new buttons I know I'll click by accident (for some reason when I'm high my finger clicks down on the mouse all the time).

Pretty much my main gripe is the loss of the quick reply, is there any chance of bringing it back Winterpeg?

I thought the old layout was perfect. Why mess with something good? :o

Major problem: The 79-page "Doctor Who + Torchwood" thread (I don't remember the exact name) has disappeared from the OT Canada board. Where did it go?

Minor problems:

- I'm not fond of the quote feature. The old white background made it much clearer where a quote begins and ends.

- There used to be link to the OT Canada board from the Raptors board and vice-versa. I don't see it now (maybe I just haven't found it). That was useful and quick.

Preferences:

Yeah, I really liked the old layout (and font) too.

EDIT: Also, there used to be a "check PMs" at the top of the page. Where are the PMs now?

I don't like it, but hopefully the new server holds up stronger on draftday.

And wait.. I'm an "analyst"? How many levels are there now and how many posts are required to get back to RealGM status?

Does anyone else press submit and get pretty much the same page and have to click submit again?
Also, I'm not very fond of the feature that says there is a new post, do you want to review your post (or something to that effect) and makes you have to go through another loading of the page to click submit (again).

Fun facts :
- The Miami Heat surpassed the Knicks in championships
- Only the Lakers, Bulls, Celtics and Spurs have more championships

Technically, it's the American spelling that's funky. You're the ones who went out of your way to differentiate yourselves from the original British spelling.

I dislike change as much (or probably moreso) than the next person, but you surely won't see me griping about it on a free online message board.

People will get used to it pretty quickly.

Fortifying the forum for draft day is one thing but giving it a visual overhaul is another. I agree with the quotes being blended in with the replies. That's a major problem. I also miss the quick reply box.

The whole site just looks way too blue. You have a blue background combined with blue screen names. I know human beings are change-averse but I'm just not feeling it right now. Hopefully this is just a rough re-launch.

Add me to the list of unsatisfied with the "layout change" list, the old style was RealGM's signature, why mess with perfection? :(
