Morey is an awful GM who had a total of one good trade (Harden to Houston) and has been riding that ish forever. I believe the OKC GM was his friend so even that one was gift. His teams has like what one conference finals in a two decade career?

Old news isn't this. It was ridiculous. Morey watched his roster burn this past season because he couldn't move Harris.

This is like saying "I have Josh Giddey, but he's only available for a player the quality of Ant"

Why? Detroit is a low pressure environment on their athletes.

It'd be a waste of money. Simone Fontecchio is probably better than him at this point. That being said, the Pistons are the worst organization in the NBA and perhaps in all of professional sports, so I fully expect it to happen.

Fully guaranteed max contract, just to be salary dumped in two years - book it Pistons!

I don't blame Morey, if he caught Altman when he was on his 6th beer maybe the deal would have happened. :)

At least he won't be straight up waived like Josh Smith.

He's going to look nice coming off the bench for the Minimum with the Lakers

I don’t believe that and no one should.

Not only the value makes no sense, but they wanted both Allen and Mobley to play with Embiid.

If anything, Troy Weaver has been extremely hesitant to spend any money at all. Biggest contract he's handed out with quite a few years with cap space has been Jerami Grant for 3yr/60M.

FWIW, I think if Tobias made $20M/year for the Sixer instead of $40M, the narrative on him would be totally different. He's a fine player, but like a #4 guy who was paid like a 1B option.

That's gotta be a miss. I can't see an NBA GM making that "offer" even as a joke.

Technically 2. They made the western conference finals in 2015(lost to eventual champion Warriors) then loss again in 2018 because CP3 got injured.

He managed to get a great deal on CP3 (traded Montrezl Harrell, Pat Beverly, Lou Williams, Sam Dekker+1 1st and 1 2nd) before he and Harden had a falling out due to Harden not willing to listen.

Don't get me wrong he's had his fair share of misses. That said if he was the GM when Butler was in Philly, he wouldn't have messed around and kept him.

This summer will be interesting in terms of what he does with the cap space.

We're posting year old tweets from a place called Uproxx? We just allow anything on the GB now don't we? How pointless is this?

Morey hype is super grating. And I detest the element of "nerds can jump into any industry and do better than people who work their way up" from his supporters. It is gross and arrogant.

But his Houston run is strong. He took over for an owner who had a "no tanking" rule and has an aging core when he arrived. Over his 12 seasons running the club in the RS they had the second best winning percentage and second best SRS. In the post-season they drop off but still 8th in playoff wins is strong. Overall that is a successful tenure. Way, way better than awful.

His Philly tenure team to me has been less impressive. He screwed up the Simmons situation bigtime by holding onto both Embiid/Simmons for far too long. Most people already knew one would have had to go. And he held on to Simmons for the perfect deal which hurt the club. He also was a bit too myopically focused on Harden.

That said his Houston run is impressive and he is way better than awful. Even if he isn't anywhere near the genius his supporters believe.

He deserves more respect than that. He's the Michael Jordan of the Tobias Harrises of GMs.

Or is he the Steph Curry of the Rick Brunson's of GMs?

He's a liar. :eyebrows:
