Yeah. One of my favorite players, Max Kruse, recently came out of retirement to play for a lower division team and the pics of how much weight he put on after just 9 months of no longer running a marathon or two a week went viral lol.

Yeah...pretty OT but just wanted to jump in quick and say that the way the media positioned that picture is pretty disingenuous and sensationalist. He's certainly not as lean as he used to be but nowhere near what the above picture would suggest: https://www.imago-images.com/offers/622325/Sports/Football/Football,-Kreisliga-A,-BSV-Al-Dersimspor,-Training-with-Max-Kruse-?db=sport

Anyways, back to topic. Excited for the games tonight!

Oh it was definitely a very unfavorable angle...but a lot of footballers plump up as soon as they're no longer burning as crazy a number of calories as they do during their playing days, because they do do an unreal amount of running during their careers.

I've heard a ton of former athletes in cardio-centric sports saying the biggest change they had to make after retirement was reducing food volume. When you're running 9-10 miles a day regularly you can just binge anytime you feel like it. If you keep that up after you retire you balloon fast

That was really surprising to me because average footballers run more than double that...7 miles over 90minutes...and sometimes closer to triple, but it does seem like that is what a ton of running is in the NBA. As Jimmy led the NBA in 2016 running 2.7 miles per game.

Maybe it's just that in basketball we almost always see _somebody_ moving fast but not everyone actually is.

Basketballers do also play a lot more often. Even the biggest stars in world football don't play more than 60-something games a year...70-something if there is a NT tournament over the summer. With a season that starts in early August and ends in late May.

Plus a basketball court is way smaller than a football pitch, so NBAers don't need to cover as much ground just to stay with the play.

Vastly different sports, really. They require vastly different athleticism as well. Football cares a lot more about stamina than basketball does. Stamina is a secondary attribute in basketball, at best. In football, on the other hand, stamina is very important (much more important than, say, jumping ability), especially for certain positions and player roles.

Take a wing back as an example. You don't care if he can jump high. You don't care if he's barely 1.70 cm. But you do care if he has the stamina to cover the whole flank. If he cannot do that then he probably should play a different position or role.

Obviously, there are roles that do not require you to move all that much. Andrea Pirlo was a pretty famous example of a player that barely needed to move, especially in his latter years. His incredible passing ability meant that he had no problem sticking to a certain area of the field while spraying pinpoint passes everywhere. But Pirlo was definitely the exception here and not the norm.

And, yes, different positions and roles do require different athletic strengths (a central defender, for example, does need to be big and strong so he can win headers) but, still, stamina is pretty important for almost everyone.

Ok, I'm just ranting now, I'll stop

Pulling for the Knicks sweep.

Indiana is boring. NY in the ECF would be cray cray. Imagine if they win the East. They might shut down Manhattan for a mini parade.

Pacers lose this game, there will have to be some tough questions asked about Siakam's future. Paying him a 5 year MAX would be a catastrophe. I am interested to see what Thibs and Carlisle do tonight. Getting ready to see a lot of Precious Achiuwa and Jericho Sims if necessary. I don't think Thibs will give Burks those minutes.

Damn the Knicks dropping bodies.

Can they sign a FA or is it too late?

how many shots is Brunson taking tonight? I I think he'll take at least 50 shots and go for around 60-70 points

I'm not sure if they've worn white unis in any of these games.

Let Brunson sit until halftime and let’s see where we are… bring him back in if absolutely necessary

Just shut Brunson down so you dont mess up next year. Knicks aint winning **** this year anyway with everyone else hurt. Shut him down and start making exploratory calls on Randle. Gonna look real dumb if this fool breaks his foot in a 2nd round game at Indiana.

It could have been. But Brunson doesn't really have a history as a dirty player so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and say it was inadvertent.
