Wouldn't big feet mean better balance? I mean Shaq had great balance with more weight.

this is a valid point, but why wouldn't they work on that if that was the case? maybe he just has that b**** in him

Tall guys don't actually tend to be the most coordinated and/or strong.

He's basically a more athletic Bill Cartwright, minus the erratic elbows.

for sure, but as a mobile player like KAT who drives off the dribble, he needs to be coordinated or he's just hurting his team

This is exactly the issue. KAT plays like a SG/SF, but is uncoordinated like a PF/C usually would be. He makes it up with his 3 pt shooting, but it's not very conducive to spacing. And in a playoff series it can be game planned against by the opposing team. It's what makes guys like dirk or KD so elite. At their size they're still able to get their shots at almost all parts of the court.

It’s funny because the dude can’t back down anyone to save his life but he’s pretty a damn good post defender and gives guys like Jokic some good resistance. He’s guarded him far better 1 vs 1 than Gobert and Reid have.

Maybe he needs that because of lack of balance :D

I mean this is obviously tied to core strength, the main point is can he fix core strength and why he cant or didnt so far

As others noted, the bigger issue is strength here.

Theyre both big issues

Lack of functional strength doesnt allow him to establish or create deep positioning in the post or finish through contact/physicality

Lack of balance doesnt allow him to play controlled while doing so

Weak core strength translates to overall weak strength

Balance is mostly a core strength issue. I'd even go further but one of the biggest differences between players that fans perceive as high IQ vs low IQ is actually core strength. Having a stable core allows you to maintain verticality against contact which then allows you to focus on what to do with the ball vs maintaining balance.

He wears size 20 shoes, which is the same size as Gobert and the Lopez bros. Shaq and Lanier wore size 22.

biggest difference is indeed a stretch and untrue, but it is true that players that when you are in good physical shape in terms of core strength and balance you make less mistakes

it is also true that if you lose your breath easily you make more mistakes as brain and awareness need oxygen

so physical shape and making good decisions in reactionary sports do go together

To bring the pieces back together, rediscover communication

I know it's a thing to make fun of players here on the GB, which doesnt bother me for the most part.. but to those calling KAT soft and a bitch, please try to remember that during those Covid years, KAT lost 8 of his family members to that virus. EIGHT. Including his mother.. and he STILL busted his ass on the court. That man is far from being a bitch.

The truth is, the league have figured out the blueprint on how to guard KAT. He used to dominate when guarded exclusively by slower 5's, and these matchups gave him more time to get his shot off, as well as the ability to drive past them consistently.

Once teams started putting big wings on KAT, he stopped getting as many clean 3pt looks due to his slow release, and he lacks the first step/body control/decision making to consistently punish these teams off the dribble. Add that to the fact that he doesn't handle double teams well in the post, and you have a predictable player that is easy to guard. He will always put up stats vs bad teams, but it rarely translates on the big stage unfortunately. He's very much the D'angelo Russell of centers.
