Blazers - Worst Bench Ever?

Post#1 » by Bank Shot » Tue Jan 22, 2013 6:18 pm

Their record speaks to how solid their starting lineup is because their bench is all-time awful.

Here's their bench:

Leonard - 16.5 MPG, 12.9 PER, 61.7 TS%, 4.8 PPG
Babbitt - 12.9 MPG, 9.3 PER, 48 TS%, 4.5 PPG
Price - 13.5 MPG, 7.0 PER, 40.3 TS%, 2.9 PPG
Barton - 10.3 MPG, 6.2 PER, 39.7 TS%, 2.8 PPG
Claver - 12.2 MPG, 4.4 PER, 38.1 TS%, 2.4 PPG
Smith - 8.2 MPG, 2.0 PER, 36.8 TS%, 2.4 PPG
Freeland - 9.4 MPG, 7.6 PER, 40.5 TS%, 2.3 PPG
Pavlovic - 12.8 MPG, 6.5 PER, 42.1 TS%, 2.2 PPG
Jeffries - 9.1 MPG, 2.2 PER, 33.0 TS%, 1.1 PPG

No one plays over 17 MPG, no one averages 5PPG, only Leonard has a PER over 9.5. Only Leonard has a TS% over 48%. Their bench is a rookie who wouldn't be getting run on a lot of teams and a bunch of 12th men that wouldn't make a lot of rosters in the league.

Last year's LOLcats bench destroys this bench.

Worst bench ever, or best starters enver? I dont' think it's the question. The Blazers bench don't have any plays for them. The starter are ballhoging hard and play only each other.

I don’t know if they're the worst bench, but they're not even close to the best starting line up the blazers have had.

Worst bench ever? As I watched many of NBA games ive seen some starting lineups that are (or where) worste than the Blazers bench.

Oh, this should be good. Please, name at least one starting five that is worse than Price/Pavlovic/Babbitt/Jeffries/Leonard or whatever unit you can make up out of those guys.

After giving it some thought, the post-Jordan Bulls were terrible as it is. It gets even worse when you talk about the bench.

Bulls 98-99:
Andrew Lang - 18.4mpg, 3.8ppg, 4.4rpg
Cory Carr - 14.9mpg, 4.1ppg, 1.2rpg, 1.6apg
Kornel David - 18.0mpg, 6.2ppg, 3.5rpg
Rusty LaRue - 17.0mpg, 4.7ppg, 1.3rpg, 1.5apg
Charles Jones - 16.4mpg, 3.7ppg, 1.4rpg, 1.4apg
Keith Booth - 11.1mpg, 3.1ppg, 2.4rpg, 1.0apg
Bill Wennington - 11.9mpg, 3.8ppg, 2.1rpg
Corey Benjamin - 10.3mpg, 3.8ppg, 1.3rpg

It gets a bit better next year with the additions of some guys like Matt Maloney, Will Perdue and Fred Hoiberg, but on paper it still looks very crappy.

There have been starting lineups put out there worse than a lineup where a rookie Myers Leonard is by far the best player? Doubt it. Even when the Craptors were at their crapiest and had to get injury exceptions they weren't putting out lineups like that. The Bobcats bench last year is better than this bench. Forget about the starters and that was % wise the worst team ever.

Oh good find. That is ugly. Rusty LaRue will always been one of the GOAT athlete porn-star names. I look up their PERs and its pretty darn close to the Blazers. Lots of PERs in the 6 to 7 range. Still not quite the Blazers though.

How about the 2002-03 Nuggets? The 21 players that had played at least a minute for them were too over-whelming for me, so I didn't want to decide which guys qualify as bench players and who doesn't.

By the way, since you touched upon porn names, is David Steele the best porn-star name among NBA announcers? I believe so.
