Sixers trade Casper Ware to Nets for a 2nd and Teague

So basically the Nets got rid of a 3rd string point guard on a 1.1 million in salary and in exchange got a 3rd string point guard on an unguaranteed 800k salary. And to do that they gave up an unprotected 2019 2nd round pick, the better of either the Kings or Bucks. Meanwhile the Nets are already 30 million over the salary cap so the potential salary savings mean absolutely nothing. Either Billy King thinks Casper Ware is a top notch back up point guard or he just got fleeced by Hinkie.

the nets were going to cut teague... instead they gave a second rounder to instead cut ware who was non-gauranteed. it saves the nets quite a bit of cash. are they over the tax by a ton? yes. but that doesnt mean you just throw money away, you still make smart financial moves where you can and thats a smart financial move. When you add in the repeater tax this saves the nets between 5-6 million. I know prokorov basically prints money, but saving where you can without hurting the oncourt product is the kind of thing that allows you to continue to shell out big money.

if they want to buy into the 2nd round in 2019 they can do so, and at less then 1.1 million

the words "fleeced" and "future second round pick" should never be said in the same sentence.

I'm surprised the Nets still had draft picks left to trade.

look, if you want to knock the nets and billy king's moves you have plenty of ammo...

but trading a 3rd string point gaurd who has been pretty awful and a 2nd rounder for an ungauranteed pick who will be cut is so irrelevant to the nets on court situation or future it is kind of crazy to hate on.

thats like watching someone shoot themselves in the foot and make fun of them cause their socks dont match

Marquis Teague just may be the worst player in the league right now. Perfect fit for Philadelphia.

Maybe the Nets thought that Casper Ware was really Casper the friendly ghost? It is close to Halloween you know.

You can't be serious... :noway:

It's a not much of anything trade for both teams. The Nets get Teague off the books by giving up a worthless pick. Ware will be cut by the Nets. Teague was, and still is, beyond worthless in the NBA.

Tony Wroten isn't a fan of this.

But that would actually make things funnier, kinda like the Nets situation.

Nets save like 4 mill or more because of the lux tax, by trading Teague. Not just that, Marquis Teague happens to be one of the worst players in the NBA, so this frees up a valuable roster spot that can go to a better player.

Nets save a buttload of cash and the Sixers get another pick. Good deal for both sides.

If only Chris Smith were still in the league he'd be a challenger for the worst player title.

Soon Sixers will enter a draft picking from 31-60.

Wasn't Teague very highly regarded before he went to college? People need to stop overhyping highschool kids
