Post#1 » by sunshinekids99 » Mon Apr 2, 2007 12:42 am

I would like to welcome everybody to the Boston Red Sox board. Just looking to have some fun on these boards and keeping everything civil.

Please everybody read the rules of realgm.

http://www.realgm.com/src_board_rules.php

Any questions about anything please contact BBJ, Chach, Bleeding Green, or myself.

Again welcome to the board and lets have some fun.

Basically just don't be stupid and you'll be all set.

This place is cooler than I expected. Team colors and everything. Ooh, bask in it's glory.

BG brought up a good question elsewhere: would you guys rather see individual game threads or series threads? Sound off here.

Series threads make more sense. Individual game threads would be, in my opinion, overkill. You'd get a few pages of discussion if you're lucky and then the board is going to be cluttered with game threads. Series threads keep things more condensed and the series are interconnected. The bullpen usage pattern in game 1 will dicate what the manager can do in game 2. You can also have discussion on, "why do we keep pitching to ____" in the thread rather than having it span over two or three separate ones. Easier to keep track of stuff, easier to have more fulfilling conversations, and less clutter on the board. Stick with the series threads.

How the hell did I end up as a mod here? mahalo

I'd go with series threads for the same reasons Chach mentioned. 162 GDT's and one almost every day for a board that currently isn't too active is definitely overkill. Maybe if the board starts filling up later into the season it would make sense to have one for each game; but not now.

Looking forward to talk baseball here, I'm also for series threads. Reasons were already mentioned...

I'd go with series threads. Less work too. :P

Hey guys I'm really excited about this new forum. I'd like to see a lot more threads in the future. I liket he set-up here with Real GMs basketball forums, and I hope the other sports ones get just as popular. Maybe if we could promote this place a bit more in the Celtics forum it could gain some popularity. I remember a lot of off-topic Pats and Red Sox threads on there.
