The Boston team that crushed them tonight is basically last year's edition - neither Allen or KG played. They still crushed them by 30.

What?

That was two years ago with a completely different Miami Heat team.

Jason Williams/Gary Payton
Dwyane Wade/Gary Payton/Derek Anderson
James Posey/Antoine Walker/Shandon Anderson/Jason Kapono
Udonis Haslem/Antoine Walker
Shaq/Alonzo Mourning/Michael Doleac

to

Jason Williams (in and out)/Chris Quinn
Dwyane Wade (injured, recovering)/Daequan Cook
Dorrell Wright/Anfernee Hardaway (there for a little bit, waived)/Ricky Davis
Udonis Haslem/Alexander Johnson
Shaq (declined more, injured)/Zo (out for the season)/Mark Blount/Earl Barron

Aside from Wade and Shaq offensively, Haslem + Posey on the mid-post/wings + Shaq/Zo on the interior contained Dirk Nowitzki for that series. Miami also held Dallas 8 PPG below their regular season average.

Oh, and Miami won four games in a row. Dallas choked in G3 - but Miami still took advantage and made the plays to win that game. Miami just carried on that momentum for the rest of the series.

Dallas was the more talented team, but Miami was the better overall team.

This claim simply has no credibility.

Doesn't matter. Everyone that watched that series know how the Mavs choked it away. The Heat played their best ball at the right time, but the Mavs choked by losing 4 in a row after dominating the first 2. And that's all that is to it. I've always thought the Mavs lost the series more than the Heat won it, and I stand by it. And I'll just leave it at that.
