I didn't watch many Warrior games, but the issue with Klay seems to be motivation. He's still pretty mobile & you don't forget how to shoot overnight.

Dallas could be a great landing spot for him, although seeing him on another team would be weird.

Klay is cooked. He's lost his lateral quickness. He was always a very overrated defender but since the first injury he's been a straight up liability and it's only gotten worse. At this point in his career he should be an off the bench SG that plays 25 mpg. It's easier to hide his defense and his shooting will help offensive starved 2nd units. The problem is he still sees himself as the player that he was in 2017 and thinks it's preposterous that he should accept a lesser role and less than top dollar. The Warriors need to move on but maybe him retiring a Warriors only player is more important to them than winning another championship. Owners get very sentimental when dynasties come to a screeching halt.

THJ is 35% from 3 and is basically a 3 point specialist. He doesn't do anything else good he's 40% from the field not a good defender, not a high IQ player. Klay is an offensive upgrade. Green just doesn't have it between the ears. He's just a hustle guy.

Green was injured for a lot of our run we just had where we won 16 of 18 games, he wasn't needed at all.

Only way I do it is a sign and trade where Warriors get this guy. But why would they say yes?

He can't defend and shoot reliably anymore. Why would the Mavs want Klay? He's a more expensive THJ. Cuban isn't the majority owner anymore so he can't really make nonsense signings without consulting the new majority owners and Nico.

"Worth watching as a possible suitor" -- I mean that's awfully vague, could just be pure speculation. If there is any substance, it's probably just that Dallas is willing to sign Klay for cheap, as a lot of teams would be. Klay will likely just end up back with the Warriors on a too-large contract... but if somehow magically Dallas steps up, I'll drive Klay to the airport.

lol, at the start of next season he is already pretty close to his 35th birthday.

And yeah they are trying to trade THJ for years just to sign 35y old washed up Klay? Maybe for the minimum...

Were they trying to trade THJ though? Because they gave him another contract in 2021. I wanted him gone then.

No to Klay, unless it's in a trade for THJ I'm doing that. THJ is worse and not that much younger.

Imagine if the Mavs had kept Jalen Brunson and used the assets they used to acquire Kyrie on a player in his prime above 6'5". You wouldn't have this scramble to add Kyrie and now a washed up Klay.

That's an odd projection considering the actual team starting both Kyrie and Luka has been the best defense in the entire league since the trades. Doubt Klay could be anywhere near that big of a drag.

Guess news travels slow that Dallas is a good defensive team. Which is understandable. This is a franchise that has historically always been offensive-focused. But they are big and they really defend now.

He said since the trade deadline where we added Gafford and Washington, you're looking at the entire season. We don't have the same roster as the beginning of the season.

Mavs have had the best defense in the League since we got Gafford and Washington. Klay would come off the bench he would not make our defense just god awful. He would come in to hit 3s. If he can replace THJ that's an upgrade because THJ plays no defense.

Only source I could see had Dallas at 10th in D rating since the All Star Break.

You have to realize that Dallas had an easy schedule. 15 of your last 20 were against lottery teams and Miami was 2 of those non-lotto teams. I would be expecting a defense of around 15-20 next season as is

Klay can't do anything but hit threes at this point, so he isn't worth a lot of money anymore. If it's a small amount, then great, but he really isn't the piece putting a team over the edge at this point.

I feel that the Mavs need an off the bench playmaker than anything else for next season.

They have 3 guys you can playmake but two of those guys are injury prone.
