How is this a topic and how is it at 12 pages?? Stupid question and the fact that there is so much talk about it is amazing

Of course he is getting his jersey retired by the Heat. 4 straight Finals, winning 2 of them is really amazing. Heat would be stupid to not honor that

Honoring what that team did is one thing. Retiring his jersey is something else.

Pat Riley is still probably too salty at being spurned by Lebron. (And so are Heat fans, judging from this thread.)

But when Lebron retires, I have no doubt he'll get the treatment he deserves. He gave Miami the very best years of his career.

He won you two championships and two EC titles. That is substantially more than anyone else in your franchise history had. Its beyond insane not to retire his jersey after that.

So why can't he win any for Cleveland? Or is he simply not trying?

Because of the teams he had? Plus you got Lebron when he entered his prime both physically and mentally.

I find it hilarious that Heat fans act like they would have done anything since 2006 without Lebron. If you want to credit Wade's importance on the 2006 win, and actually getting Lebron to Miami, that's fine. But don't act like you would have won without Lebron, that'ts just senile.

He learned to be mentality tough because HE was with Miami!!!

I have no problem with Lebron's jersey being retired. I'm thankful for the time he spent with us.

With that said, it's pretty sad how people are trying to shove a re-write of history down heat fans throats about how he came here and by himself brought us two championships. At the end of 2014 it may have seemed like a one-man show, but it sure as hell was not that way in 2011 or 2012. Even in 2013, with Wade injured, Lebron doesn't win without Wade.

Like I said, I have no problem with Lebron getting his number retired here and I'm thankful for what he did, but don't act like he did it alone. He wasn't wining going to the finals every year by himself, that's why he came to Miami.

What does that have to do with the fact that you wouldn't have won without him? I don't care if he grew a third arm in Miami, you still wouldn't have won without him.

Who said the bold statement?
I hate LBJ for leaving Miami, but I appreciate what he brought to Miami... As I always say, Miami and Lebron need each other....
And also dont act like Lebron did everything for Miami!!!! I blame the 2011 finals on him!!!

I don't think it is a given. Honestly, players should get their numbers retired based on what they brought to the franchise and what were the fans reaction to him. If ownership and fans both dislike how he left, then that should tie into the decision.

Personally I think they will retire his jersey. I just don't think it is a given.

How many college players have had their jerseys retired by the university? Lebron would be the first as far as I know.

He is the best player who has played for the heat. It is not like he just played a few seasons and left. He won 2 rings for them while winning 2 FMVP. The most famous Heat player of all time by a good margin even though wade has played all his career for the heat.

LeBron probably made heat as much money as wade has and he was there for just 4 years.

I said before that I have no problem with the Heat retiring Lebron's jersey. But I do have a problem with the assumption a lot of people have here that Lebron came and gave us 2 rings by himself. In 2014 they lost because nobody but Lebron showed up, but in 2011 we lost because nobody but Wade showed up. Lebron didn't arbitrarily decide to grace us with his presence, he came to play with a champion.

Reitre his jersey by all means. But there is a major history re-write going by some people on this thread who act like Lebron did everything for Miami and not the other way around for those four years.
