OKC helped Mavs getting both Gafford and Lively. Now both are instrumental for Mavs success.

The Oklahoma City Thunder selected Lively twelfth overall in the 2023 NBA draft and then traded him to the Dallas Mavericks.

It was a pre-arranged deal though Mavs could have just taken Lively with #10 but took Cason Wallace and they swapped players.

Well technically they more helped with giving Mavs the options to improve the roster.

As part of the trade with the Thunder, the Mavs sent Davis Bertans along with the No. 10 pick in exchange for the No. 12 pick. So, not only did the Mavs get the guy they wanted, but they also shed an unattractive salary off their books to gain the full midlevel exception in free agency, as well as a $17 million trade exception

By passing them in the standings and sending them to the lottery :D

this is stupid...if anything the mavs helped OKC to get Cason Wallace since they moved up for that.

it's better to say that OKC helped Dallas to clear some cap space by getting rid of Bertans + helped them to get Gafford. That being said, I doubt OKC was a deal breaker for both.

Would much rather have Cason going forward for OKC. He projects to be Jrue like without the need for a ton of improvement to get there.

If have to, would rather win the next at home and rest the 5th game in OKC.

I would not be so harsh to hurt partners feelings. Certain organizations like to work together figuring out trades. Mavs with OKC, NYK, BRN, WAS, CHA...

Not entirely sure those "non moves" for OKC are something that will make them lose sleep at night. Winning a playoff series is cool and all.. but it's not like they'd be title favorites with those two. Ultimately, goal is to win championships and they have plenty of ammo to improve.

Ain't no partner teams in the playoffs.

Honestly don’t know why they produce these reports if there aren’t any consequences.

That really is stupid. Almost every player in the league palms the ball, they NEVER call it. They’re gonna bring it up in the last 2-minute period to help the losing team bitch about the refs?

Oh yeah but the refs didn't miss any calls that were on OKC. Give me a break.

It’s more that the obviously wrong jump ball call happened at an important time and definitely could’ve swung the game.

LOL not the first time the Mavs have had a playoff opponent where the League is obsessed with making that guy a star, it happened in 2006 Finals too with Dwayne Wade. The refs have been against the Mavs all 3 games even non-Mavs on twitter have noticed it. The only ones who don't see it are OKC fans.

You know that’s a really delusional take right? Like if the “league” wanted the Thunder to advance they would have made the correct calls in their favor, not made the wrong call and then later admit it was the wrong call. That’s what we are talking about, the league saying that they blew a call in a 102-99 game with 1:30 left. Verified as the wrong call. Again not to mention the other call which we can just charge to the game.

They got calls wrong in favor of OKC the whole game, and they're trying to make it look like OKC got the raw end of the deal when it's not true at all. I'm calling them liars.

First quarter two offensive fouls on the Mavs that were flops, SGA throwing elbows every time he gets in the lane, Dort playing football. This is ridiculous. If the Mavs were getting the favorable call I would just admit it, but there's no way in hell that's the truth. OKC got the favorable call in Dallas which should never happen. I'd prefer they just call it fair no matter where it's played but since they're incapable of doing that at least give us a fair whistle at home.

This is just coming across as sour grapes on your part because your team lost.

The other ironic thing is OKC could use both Gafford and PJ and had the ammo to trade for both. Instead both might be instrumental in ending their season.
