The eastern conference will be tough with every team getting better with the exception of Atlanta but they're still pretty good. It will be tough for the Magic to beat out Detroit, Indiana, Boston, and Charlotte for that 8th spot.

West wasnt even that good for the Pacers last year you guys got to chill. All Hibbert provided was defense. You guys are over valuing Hibbert and West. I love West but he did not try at all last year and we almost made it.

It's funny how people on here made fun of Hibbert and said he's a negative value in trades but now that he's gone, Indiana is gonna be trash next year? Makes total sense...

Cavs
Hawks

Cleveland (easy)
Washington (all these new wings, reminds me of last year's Hawks)
Indiana (a team playing to its strengths, most underrated squad in the league)
Toronto (they'll overachieve because the Atlantic sucks again)
Milwaukee (lack of holes != lack of flaws, could finish anywhere from 2 to 9)
Atlanta (that bench is looking thinner)
Chicago (Thibs was a master of the East, new coach + tougher East)
Miami (great on paper but performance last year gives me worry, even with a healthy squad)
---
Detroit (SVG will get a lot out of this team, don't count them out)
Charlotte (new-look team of shooters will open lane for Walker)
Boston (meh)
Philadelphia (everyone is too distracted by frontcourt situation, this is a scrappy team)
Orlando (soon)
New York (sure doesn't look built to win games)
Brooklyn (about to go flying off the treadmill)

1. Cleveland 65
-----------------------
2. Chicago 52
3. Milwaukee 50
4. Atlanta 47
5. Miami 46
6. Indiana 43
----------------------
7. Washington 41
8. Toronto 40
--------------------
9.Charlotte 38
10. Boston 37
11. Orlando 37
12. Detroit 35
---------------------
13. Brooklyn 32
14. NY 28
15. Philly 26

I'm a huge homer. But I really think Giannis makes the leap in his third season to borderline all star. Adding that to last years team alone would be good enough for 4-5 wins. But adding Jabari and Monroe I think pushes the Bucks to 50 wins.

There s always one team every year that just comes out of nowhere to be in the playoffs.Last year it was us.This year i feel like Detroit is that team.

SVG has acquired players who fit his system more or less(Got a S4 in Ersan, finally found a starting SF in Stanley who early on looks like a darkhorse ROY winner)and they have a good young core(Drummond,KCP,Reggie, now Stanley Johnson)

It s nice to see that most EC teams are happy with their teams moves.Pretty much everyone is overrating their squad at this point but we still don t know if the pieces will fit(example Lance going to Charlotte last year) and there is still a chaotic difference between the EC and the WC

Cavaliers---(No explanation here).
Bulls-------(Great overall team. Deep starting 5 with deep bench)
Hawks----(Essentially bringing the same team back. Losing Carrol will hurt a bit though. Still a deep team).
Wizards--(Losing Paul pierce will hurt but solid overall team with great backcourt and role players).
Raptors---(Improved their roster this offseason with a much more focus on defense. Even though other fan bases fails to see it).
Heat----(On paper have great starting 5. But injuries and age worries me while the bench is still suspect. Solid team nonetheless)
Bucks---(Will be a improved/fun team no doubt. But not buying hype of them becoming a top eastern team. Have to wait and see.)
Celtics---(Good solid young team ran by a great young coach. Great front court depth. Can surprise teams for sure.)

Hornets
Magic
Pistons
Pacers
Nets
Knicks
Sixers

The Pistons (a .500 team last year over the last 54 games after removing Josh Smith) are going to win less games than they've won each of the last 3 seasons? I'll gladly bet anything on that.

They were very good immediately after Smith was gone and then afterwards they dropped back off to being pretty bad. That prediction was old, so I agree they'll win more than that, but not my much more. Personally, I expect around 31-32 wins for the Pistons. Losing Monroe is going to hurt , Johnson won't much of a difference maker record-wise in his rookie year (as rookies never are), and simply put, a lot of other teams in the East have improved dramatically. Some teams have to be at the bottom of the barrel. Obviously any fan is going to be mad when someone else projects it'll be theirs (except Sixers fans), as fanbases are naturally more optimistic about their own teams. I just don't see the talent on the Pistons being greater than that of teams like the Celtics, Pacers, Magic, Hornets, or the Bucks. I think they'll be around NY-Brooklyn territory (low 30s in the win column).

Interesting fact: last year the east in total won 577 games. The OP predict a jump to 618 wins this season. That's a 41 more wins.

I'm not mad, frankly I've always been on the "Pistons should tank" side of the ledger until they add a no doubt dominant wing, but they have more talent and cohesion than you realize.

I feel that Chicago made a mistake firing Thibs. But we'll have to wait and see
