Rumor: Mike Bibby Heading to Miami?

The Lakers fans you hear saying this are the fans who think that new players are always better. Bibby is garbage, and I would not want him on the floor over Fisher or Blake. Now Carlos is shooting the three better this year then Bibby, but maybe he will be an upgrade over House.

The .03% difference in their 3pt shooting efficiency doesn't make up for the fact that he's a better distributor, has a higher IQ, and can run an offense better. Bibby is an upgrade over both House and Arroyo. It may not be a significant upgrade, but he's definitely better.

As a Hawk fan, this is a great pickup for the Heat. The two things he does well are the two things the Heat suck at. Getting into their sets and spot up shooting.

Chalmers makes 2-3 great plays, and then compromises that by making 4-5 DUMB plays. That, and he's not great at running our offensive sets nor forcing the players to do just this. Bibby with his experience of being a true PG can run settled offense, even in pressure situations which the Heat need from the PG.

Bibby isn't a true point guard, so Wade and Lebron will still dominate the ball, and Bibby will get exposed on defense worse than House and Chalmers do. Don't get it wrong, he will hurt your defense but unlike Atlanta, you guys drive to the basket and aren't a bunch of jump-shooters who occasionally do work in the low post. I'd take Bibby right now over Chalmers right now, any day of the week. Chalmers is, at best, a 20mpg backup who can come in and make a few 3pts and hopefully not turn it over too much.

An 87 year old fisher who played fantastic defense in the finals last year save for game 2. Fisher is a terrible defender, but the Lakers put Kobe on Westbrook (after 4 games) and Kobe on Rondo, making sure that his lateral movement would not be exploited. Also Lakers have trees to help incase he is blown by.

Defense is the most consistent part of the Miami team. But it was earlier in the year when Miami was getting torched by PG's on a nightly basis, that was during the stretch that Arroyo started. During that stretch Paul had a 13 point 19 assist game, Williams had a 21 point 14 assist game, Rondo had an 8 point 16 assist game, Nelson had a 17 point 14 assist game, etc. etc.

But we replaced him with superior defenders. Hinrich was a 2nd team all NBA defense guy. Teague can defend, offensively he's still improving but shows flashes. Teague should have been playing but with Bibby, we needed to run a slow pace all game long. With Teague and Hinrich we can run all game long. Bibby is awful defensively but Miami could take that blow unlike Atlanta if that means Miami offense in four times more efficient w/ Bibby.

The thing is you are right. Elite PG's will still eat up the Heat but the difference is now Miami can out score them and get into sets and they have a reliable spot up shooter in Bibby who vastly improve their offense.

But Bibby is not Fisher. Fisher despite all his issues is a Brick and strong as an ox. Bibby is not strong enough to fight through screens set by boston or keep some of the other twos from crushing him in the post

I watched about 90% of Hawks games in the past seven years so when I say Bibby would be a good fit for you guys, I know what I am talking about. Stop being argumentative and listen.

I don't think he helps you a lot in terms of being the piece that gets you to the title if your road is Boston or Atlanta. But v. NYK, Orl, Chi. He helps you guys a ton since execution is your biggest flaw when I watch Heat games. The piece you really need is not on the market won't be for the price it takes to get that person. Bibby is a good stop gap who would make the half court offense run with more efficiency.
