Synergy Sports Fan Site

Post#1 » by mnWI » Mon Apr 19, 2010 7:28 am

Synergy Sports Tech, a company that provides a video service to 27 NBA teams for a nominal fee, is launching a fan site within a few hours. I was given access to this site about a week ago so I could play around with it some, and I have to say that it's really quite impressive with the way you can compare teams and players.

For those not familiar with Synergy, here's some good info about the company. They tag each possession of each NBA game during the season, and allow teams just to look at the smallest aspects of the game. They will be doing it to a much lesser degree with the fan site. So if you want go and watch Chris Paul's pick and rolls from this season, you just choose Chris Paul as your player and it'll let you watch his pick and rolls.

The fan site will also allow you to compare 2 players or 2 teams, or just watch games as well. I'm making a second post soon with pictures of the fan site explaining a little further detail.

Synergy is charging $29.95 for access to the fan site, which is set to go live within a couple hours. The access should run through September, and has all the NBA games archived from the 2009-2010 NBA season. I'm not sure if they plan on including video from previous seasons or not.

If you want to check it out you can sign up at the following link:

Ok, here's some pictures of what you can see on the Synergy fan site. Any blue text is a link that you can click on, and it will play video.

Image

That's how each play is broken down on. So you see the player, the play type, and the result of each play in a game.

Image

That shows the different offensive and defensive team breakdowns available. You can also compare two teams, but this is the single game offensive view in the picture.

Image

The different play types you can look at for each player. So in this case, you can watch all of Al Jefferson's isos, pick and rolls, spot ups, cuts, ect. And you can watch just the makes or the attempts as well.

Image

That's the screen you get once you click on a particular category. It'll show you video on all of Jefferson's post ups if you follow that link from the last screen

Image

That's the defensive view for Jefferson.

Image

That's the statistical per game breakdown you can look at of each player. All blue text is a link that plays video.

Edit- Tried resizing the images and they don't look right, so here are the direct links:

For anyone signed up, they pulled down the site a little bit ago to make a couple changes. It hasn't even been officially released yet, so you guys are getting an early look at things.

I have access to the real site, but do you know if this will have college games like the usual one does?

*nod*

They sent out a message not long ago that told me I signed up at a weird time and that there would be periodic outages until the official launch. And that they'll be refunding me five cents because they overcharged, lol. But it's all good. I'm looking forward to this a lot.

No. The real site is a completely different animal and there's a reason it costs tens to hundreds of thousands of dollars more.

Yea, true. Should still be a pretty cool thing for true hoop fans to have. And if you want to save yourself some pain, don't ever look at all of Kendrick Perkins' postups this season in one sitting. Scarier than the Exorcist.

Also, his entire defensive page is just blank. Wonder when the Synergy staff will get to this.
