No one want to be FA during the new CBA negociation.
Even Melo will eventually re-sign or force a trade to avoid it

good for the spurs, but really wanted to see him with the knicks...

He would have had better numbers in a high tempo team and with a great jump shooter big in Amare. Maybe 24pts 9ass

Nice

I am really happy Parker stayed in SA
Shaq on Duncan:SA won because of TD, a guy I could never break.I could talk trash to Ewing, get in D-Rob's face, get a rise out of Mourning, but when I went at Tim he’d look at me like he was bored and say:“Hey,Shaq, watch this shot right off the glass.”

I think the Spurs did this so they have more leverage when Tony Parker demands that he wants to be traded to New York.

No but seriously... Good for the Spurs. I don't think they're legit contenders anymore since their defense isn't what it used to be but at 28 years old Parker still has good amount of game left in him.

I'm glad he signed so early on. Now we don't need to listen to trade talk all season long.

We just lost our best trade chip. Oh well, we still got Blair and Hill I guess.

Part of me thinks Parker made a mistake here. The Spurs are going to rebuild through his contract when he could be contending for a title elsewhere.

But when you are working for a professional organization, you don't just throw that away. They could rebuild soon enough for him to be back in the fight, plus he gets the big contract before they don't give those things out anymore.

Time will tell, but it's uncertain for now whether this is a good move.
In '03-'04, Jerry Sloan coached the ESPN predicted "worst team of all time" to 42-40.

We're contending this year. Did you not see that San Antonio just put up 122 on 50.6% shooting in the season opener? We have the 2nd best offense in the league you fool. This is our last chance to win a title so don't count out the Spurs just yet especially when we get Splitter back next week.

I like the price that we got on the extension. Perhaps the potential lockout payed a part into his thinking that a dollar now is better than a dollar tomorrow.
