If the NFL has a lockout you can pretty much guarantee that the NBA won't. Stern would love to tap into that market, no matter what kind of hardball the owners are planning to play.

^ agreed. The NFL will influence what happens in the NBA.

If there is an entire season lost, I would think they would do something similar to what the NHL did with the draft. Players would go overseas, and some might not come back. I'm not sure about the situation with contracts and when they expire, but I would expect to see a double sized free agent class.

After the NHL lockout, the landscape of the league was altered quite a bit. The new rules put in place also resulted in alot of player movement. I would look to the NHL lockout as the best guide as to what would happen to the NBA in such a situation.

Why can't it? A Lockout shortened the 98-99 season. And recently lockouts in other sports have shortened the 87 NFL Season and straight up CANCELED the 05-06 NHL season, 94 MLB Season and potentially 2011 NFL season.

Can anyone imagine if NFL and NBA get locked out in the same year? That'd be crazy.

The 94 baseball season wasn't totally canceled, they played half of it. Unfortunately, it was the first half.
