Who is this legend, Zach Randolph?

Post#1 » by Wilford Brimley » Sun May 1, 2011 6:19 pm

Props to a guy who was much maligned throughout his career for being lazy and out of shape, and in the past couple of seasons has really turned it around.

Those who watch him more than I, how did this happen? Was he always good, and just got a bad rap, or has he really turned his game/attitude around?

His mid-range shooting ability is extremely impressive.

He's on TV now, so RealGm is loving him. Don't worry, no one will care once he's back playing regular season ball in Memphis

I think Zach just finally matured this year. On other teams he was the young guy, but now he's the older Vet surrounded by youth. He accepted the leadership role, and his team impact has skyrocketed.

Thank you for that, still laughing.

But Zach has always been big in the playoffs. That's where he broke out initially on the Blazers. He just hasn't been there in a while.

I heard Lamar Odom talk about finally starting to grow up when he signed with Miami, and he said the important thing was Pat and Stan simply treating him like a grown man. Then the pressure was on him to BE a grown man

Zach's always been a beast. I remember him playing in Portland and playing against prime KG, Zbo just abused him.

I have to admit, this was hilarious.

But that joke isn't isn't as funny now, as he is actually a good player.

He's always put up big time numbers but never really been on a winning team

Basically it's time to recognize this guy as elite. It's funny because I came just to post a thread proposing where he should rank in the league as far as PFs are if the Grizzlies pull off this upset.

Uhm... he's at 21/9/3 in the playoffs. Good #'s, but I don't understand all the Zach Randolph love all of a sudden. He was at 20/12/2 in the regular season. So you could say he's playing worse in the playoffs than he did during the regular season.

He's always been a good player, and he still is.

He's the same to me, just a little bit less ball-hogging but he's a big one still to me. A matchup like the lakers will eat him alive, he's just taking advantage of weaker ones now. Duncan is done and Perkins's heart isn't in it.

Whats with all these bandwagon jumpers on Zach's jock now?

He has always been a GOOD player, he had a questionable work ethic and attitude though.

He has probably matured up, but who's to say he still isnt a little bit of the old Zach?... only this time on a good team?

For a long time, ever since he was in Portland, he was close if not a 20/10 player.... dont let those funny YOUTUBE clips fool you as funny as those were, he put up 20 and 10 a night. He was in my fantasy team a lot of times because of that

That Perk/Ibaka frontline is overrated defensively. Perk is slow and heavy footed and Ibaka can't defend man to man.

He's been as good if not better than Jefferson and Bosh for a few years now, no one wanted to admit it though. I was laughed at quite a bit under my omeloon username because I was always defending him - without even liking him.

Nobody can win alone...basketball its a team game. He has some great qualities that are rare, inside scoring/rebounding, but also he has some big flaws, like D (he is not the best athlete around) and for sure he had some mature issues. Still he was consistent high lvl performer, so nobody can say ''contract year''.

He just found a team who helped him to maximize his abilities hiding at the same time his flaws. They trusted him, without ask him to be something that he is not able to be, (Bron, Kobe etc).

Its funny that Boozer have similar qualities/flaws but never bushed. Only couz he had the luck to play with arguably the best PG in the league and a HOF coach...
