Add the All-NBA teams to the joke awards of 2011...like seriously, have the awards always been handed out this poorly or have I just not been paying attention?

Numbers weren't a WHOLE lot different from Kobe. Plus Kobe is the clear #1 on his team, which is what I think it came down to.

Nah, its charity. It's like Karl Malone's 99 MVP when Duncan's stats were better, his team was better, and the objective eye knew he was better (and he lead his team to a ring) and they still gave it Karl.

The tough calls should have been Kobe or Rose as the last 1st team guard (Kobe probably better statistically and all around but Rose lead his team better) and Dirk vs Durant as the last forward (a super tough call there).

Probably what should have happened is Rose join the list of 4 or 5 other MVPs to be 2nd team (recognizing one is more about leadership and team performance, the other about individual stats and individual performance). But modern voters on such things aren't that smart, independent or thorough I guess.

Don't know how Westbrook made it over Paul but I wouldn't really consider that a snub

Kobe and Wades stats were about equal with Kobe playing 5 full minutes less a game
Add in that Wade wasnt even the best player on his team and we know why he made 2nd team

Lets have the big boys on the 1st team like Kobe, Durant and Lebron
And leave the sidekicks to the 2nd team like Gasol, Westbrook and Wade

wade scared more points , rebounded more , had more steals , more blocks .. shot better from the field.... He was a lot more active ESPECIALLY defensively ....thats where the biggest gap is .. defensively

its not just the statistics .. do people watch games anymore? .. did you see these guys head to head?

theres a reason kobe could barely get to 20 against Dallas . .and Wade averaged 30ppg against Boston.
watch the difference in their quickness .. watch wade blow by people all the time and disrupt defensively .. the 1st team all-nba defense voting is mindblowing to me .

Wade really looks like a sidekick in the playoffs doesn't he? Not only does the "sidekick" have better stats than the "big boy" on his team in the playoffs, he has better stats than anyone!

And somehow Kobe manged to take two shots more per game in five minutes less than Wade. Wonder what this comparison would look like if Wade took as many shots per game as Kobe. Better yet, wonder what this comparison would look like if Wade took as many shots as Kobe per 36 minutes. That's the great thing about 50% shooters like Wade (something Kobe could only dream of being). It makes math real easy....

You do know that PER/WS48 takes all that into consideration (with the inclusion of pace), and yet Wade's PER and WS48 trashed Kobe's?

And the fact that Westbrook got 2nd team is just as stupid as Wade getting snubbed.

replace kobe with wade and i could care less about 2nd and 3rd team. there is a reason why they arent 1st.

three things:

1) switch Kobe and Wade
Wade is the better player - no question about it
especially Wades defense is incredible. no way Kobe can be on his level

2) switch Durant with Dirk
Durant isn't even the MVP of his own team pre-AS. being the highest volume scorer don't equal being the only scorer on the Mavs while facing triple teams. sorry- but this is Dirks 1st all-nba-team ... no question

3) insert Nash somewhere: he had an MVP like season and isn't on any all-nba-team?

I didnt like Gasol or Westbrook on the 2nd team.
Lakers are 22-3 in OT last 6 seasons:Kobe best OT closer!

cuz he got traded to the knicks, if he was still on denver he woulda been 2nd team All NBA. Meanwhile Kobe gets the lifetime achievement award and gets on All NBA 1st team. I bet in 2095 when Kobe is buried in a random cemetary in Los Angeles he will still be getting named to the All NBA 1st team.

Carmelo Anthony obviously. How can you average 25/7/3 on good effiency and not make All NBA. Not even third team. Thats just insane. Even the Carmelo haters have to admit this.

Only two players in the NBA average atleast 25/7/3. Carmelo Anthony and Lebron James
