Why are Game 7's so flop in the NBA?

Post#1 » by Kid Vicious » Sun May 15, 2011 10:31 pm

Who else is constantly let down by the NBA's lame ass Game 7's? It's almost ridiculous how predictable it is. Very rarely do we get an amazing Game 7 such as this:

Even when it's a 'relatively' close game like last year's Final's, deep down you know all along that it would be the home team (Lakers) that would take it with a finish that wasn't that dramatic...like it is 85% of the time.

I never thought I'd say this...but hockey has won me over this year. The game's are almost always competitive, and nothing really compares to a Game 7 sudden death overtime. Maybe the sport of basketball and its blatant homer-ism (refereeing) just isn't conducive to the same dramatics on a consistent basis.

Alot of the recent game 7s I have seen are so poorly officiated that they can't help but be bad.

i liked the first three quarters of last years finals game 7, then suddenly the refs decided to call ticky tack fouls and ruined it. I enjoyed the battles down low for the first three quarters.

Grizzlies shot themselves down in this game. Conley taking 19 shots to 10 for Gasol? Your fault Memphis.

OKC was just a far superior team. And it showed at home.

Other than game 1, the last 6 games OKC dominated pretty much. Had they not blown double digit 2nd half leads in all three games in Memphis this series wouldnt have been as close, and would not have lasted as long.

As I read the OP, I said to myself "I wonder how long it'll take until someone says 'the refs'"

First post. I'm almost disappointed.

HCA matters. There's a reason teams play for it.

The road teams just can't play well enough on the road this year in game 7. They're already the weaker team, add home court advantage and you get lackluster games.

I remember ESPN talking about great head to head performance on their show one day and they didn't mention this series, but mentioned the Lebron Vs Pierce in 08. IMO, this series was more entertaining than than the LBJ Vs PP..... CLASSIC Series.

easy to say for you, i would love to see them play in a series with this grizz team + rudy gay, and have the thunder play without durant or westbrook. congrats you beat a team without their 1st or 2nd best player in 7 games.

Dont know whats worse. You making that excuse or you comparing the loss of Durant equal to the loss of Gay.

Hell and I'm sure the series could happen, as soon as next year.

LMAO they'd be far from the Cavs they've still got Westbrook, Harden would get more chances and they've got the defensive presences in Ibaka and Perkins.

Celtics/Cavs in 2008 was an amazing Game 7. Pierce/LeBron duel with a ton of huge plays in the 4th quarter.
