If the Lakers do this trade and somehow are able to sign a decent big man to come off the bench, then they are the clear favorites for the west. I can see someone wanting to come to LA to win a ring and agreeing to the mid level exception.

list of potential FAs http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/stor ... ents-11-12

notables:
Kenyon Martin
Pryzbilla
Chuck Hayes (off the bench, hell no as a starter)
Humphries
Carl Landry
Dalembert

Odom for Iguodola would be a pretty good trade for both teams, in terms of both team needs and talent.

Kobe, Iggy and artest can all shoot, yes they are all mediocre but it wouldn't be horrible. And like I said it would be a situational line up, they wouldn't run it majority of the time.

I don't get it. People basically agree that Odom and Iggy are comparable impact players, especially since Odom plays a more valuable harder to fill position.

They say Odom for Iggy is fair, but adding Walton kills it. I agree Walton's contract is bad but look at the math here folks. Odom is roughly seven million a year less than Iggy. Walton makes a little over five. Added together Odom and Walton are still cheaper than Iggy and the total money owed is way less. Adding in Walton makes up for the fact that Odom is on a bargain contract and Iggy is a little overpaid. I't's what makes the deal numerically fair.

It's a tough call. We need desperately athleticism in our team, so Iggy would be a great fit for LA. No one in our backcourt and 3 position can consistently get easy buckets inside, layups and dunks expect maybe Shannon Brown, so it would be amazing to have Iguodala to make up for this inside scoring deficit. Kobe has been for so many years the best player in the league, but he can't dribble and penetrate any longer in a regular basis. Our frontcourt is overbooked, and if we want to keep this team at the highest level, we must trade one of our 3 elite big men (Gasol, Bynum, Odom) in order to acquire either a great athletic, slasher forward (Iguodala) or an all-around star PG (Felton, Paul, Williams, etc). Bench deep is overrated, it is not difficult to find role and hustle players who can bring in a daily basis 8 rebounds or 10 points a game, so acquiring one of those two types of players is a pressing necessity for the Lakers as their title window is closing quickly.
